Why This Dortmund Superstar Would Be A Perfect Replacement For Alexis Sanchez At Arsenal

Share

With the transfer window right upon us, it’s the time to analyse all those speculations and rumours that surround the biggest teams in Europe, as everybody’s set to make a huge investment in order to face the second half of the season.

Nevertheless, there are some moves that can’t be done quite yet, as the biggest stars in their teams aren’t going to leave their clubs at least until the summer, but that doesn’t mean those rumours and even negotiations aren’t going to happen until then.

A team which is desperate to acquire a star is Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, although if the Gunners have to wait until the summer; the veteran Frenchman could even be out of the club due to his contract expiring.

The Gunners broke the market when they signed Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil a couple of seasons back, finally acquiring some world class players after being snubbed by their rivals over the past few years, and the North London institution will once again do so whenever they have the chance.

And now, it’s possible that they just don’t want to do it, but they’re also going to desperately need it, as the contract talks with the aforementioned Ozil and Sanchez have reportedly stalled, and they’re in danger of losing one or even both of them for the upcoming season.

So, they need to make a huge move in order to replace them if they want to stay relevant for years to come, and a name which is been linked with them is Borussia Dortmund’s and Germany star Marco Reus.

Reus is a world class talent who’s been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich over his career, but injuries and loyalty towards Dortmund have prevented him to finally make a move out of Signal Iduna Park.

However, it seems like conversations between him and Arsenal have reached on a mutual interest, and he’d be exactly what Arsenal needs to finally take that next step and not fall short of the goal one more time as they always do.

Reus has only been able to step on the pitch 8 times during this season due to several injuries, but he’s scored 4 goals to go along with 4 assists during those 8 matches, showing that he’s just unstoppable and unable to slow down even if he often misses time.

His versatility make him the perfect fit to replace either Sanchez or Ozil, as he can play on either flank of the field, behind the striker or even as a lone striker on the center of the box, being one of the most complete and talented forwards in the world since his surge at Borussia Monchengladbach several years ago.

So, bringing the injury prone 27-year-old would be a high-risk move for the Gunners, but could provide them a much-needed boost they’ve been looking for several years now, and they should definitely pursue the German star when the next summer transfer window opens.
