Crystal Palace signing this Spanish star for less than £2m would be nothing but daylight robbery by Hodgson

Crystal Palace opinion: Should the Eagles make a move for Juan Munoz?

The Mirror has reported that Crystal Palace are very keen on a move for La Liga striker Juan Munoz, as the Eagles continue their search for a striker. So far this season, the club has struggled to find the back of the net on a regular basis, with nearly every player struggling.

The fact that Luka Milivojevic is their top scorer with 12 goals, showcases their issues. Superstar Wilfried Zaha is second with 9 goals. The closest after that is Andros Townsend with four goals, which tells you that Palace are desperate for goals.

Their strikers have struggled immensely with Jordan Ayew, Christian Benteke, Alexander Sorloth and Connor Wickham combining to score just two goals. Michy Batshuayi who is on-loan from Chelsea, who arrived in January, has managed to inject hope and two goals into the club.

That changed the club’s fortunes and they managed to pull out of the relegation zone. They now sit in 12th place with 43 points. Things cannot continue this way, especially if the Eagles want to continue improving or even just surviving next season.

That’s where someone like Juan Munoz can enter the fray and given the Spaniard’s season, he could prove to be the budget striker that the club needs. So far this season, the 24-year-old has managed to net 14 goals in 34 appearances for Alcorcon.

He joined the club as a free transfer from Sevilla last summer and has established himself as their main striker. This is evident with the number of appearances’ Munoz has made, missing just three games so far.

That being said, he’s looking for a move back into top-flight football and that is exactly what Crystal Palace need to give him. The Mirror further reports that Juan Munoz is entering the final year of his contract and that means that he could be available for less than £2million.
