Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool: Player Ratings + Best Twitter Reactions

Liverpool won their third Premier League game in a row after a come from behind win over Crystal Palace. The London side took the lead in the second half after a goal by Joe Ledley and this got more problematic for Liverpool as James Milner was sent off for two bookable offences.

Liverpool though got off the blocks thanks to a mistake from Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy who slipped, gifting Roberto Firmino the chance to score for the Reds. The 10-men of Liverpool dominated proceedings after that but it took a 94^th minute penalty, a debatable one, which substitute Christian Benteke slotted in with ease.

An important win for Liverpool since they now face Manchester United in the Europa League tie and they even rested Daniel Sturridge, we look back at the game and rate the performance of the Liverpool players.

Simon Mignolet – 8/10

Mignolet could not do much to save Ledley’s shot but he was excellent for the Reds in the first half with a host of great saves.

Jon Flanagan – 7/10

Flanagan did well in the battle with Bolasie, though he didn’t always come out on top, it was a decent performance from the Liverpudlian.

Dejan Lovren – 9/10

Taking on Emmanuel Adebayor is not the easiest task but Dejan Lovren showed that he was up for the task and was incredible for the Reds, barely put a foot wrong today.

Mamadou Sakho – 7/10

Sakho was also pretty good in defence and for once Liverpool looked really good at the back.

Alberto Moreno – 8/10

The Spaniard had a really good game for Liverpool despite being up against the pacey Zaha. Moreno also did well in attack and saw a blistering shot come off the inside of the post late on in the game.

James Milner – 4/10

From one good game to a horrendous one, Milner was brilliant against Manchester City in midweek but was out of sorts against Palace and was sent off for two needless challenges.

Emre Can – 8/10

The man in midfield who was doing all the right things for Liverpool. Can was a one-man army for Liverpool and he kept them going even when they were down to 10-men.

Jordan Henderson – 6/10

Jordan Henderson had another average game, he didn’t do much to help the side in attack or defence but felt like he was a passenger on a train ride.

Adam Lallana – 7/10

Lallana ran around and made a nuisance of himself against the Palace defenders, he was alright in the first half but it wasn’t his best performance for the Reds this season.

Roberto Firmino – 7/10

Roberto Firmino wasn’t all that good in the first half and only got the goal thanks to McCarthy’s slip, but it is seven goals in eight games for the Brazilian, not a bad return in his first season.

Divock Origi – 6/10

Divock had a decent outing for the Reds but could not get the goal.

Philippe Coutinho – 7/10

Coutinho was brought on in the second half in place of Jon Flanagan and made Liverpool tick and controlled their attacks.

Christian Benteke – 6/10

The Belgian was brought on for Divock Origi and got the penalty for Liverpool. There was minimal contact but the Belgian was cool as he slotted past the Palace goalkeeper and got all three points.

Kolo Toure – NA

Toure came on as a late substitute in the game for Roberto Firmino but did not have a lot of time to stamp his authority.
