Costa And Loftus Cheek To Start: Strongest Possible Chelsea Line Up To Face West Brom

Chelsea, quite ostensibly are getting back on track. After a tumultuous start to the season under Jose Mourinho, things are looking slightly brighter than they were but consistency is something they will look for, in their bid to make it to the top six or seven, if not top four.

And the next game at Stamford Bridge against Tony Pulis’ resolute West Brom would present the Blues with an opportunity to increase their small little run. After all, small drops will someday make up a sea. And the game by game approach and taking one step at a time will go a long way in giving Chelsea the stability they need right now.

And here’s how Guus Hiddink’s men may line up:

GK: Thibaut Courtois

The big Belgian is back in the side and arguably, back to his best too. His performance against Manchester United proved exactly why the youngster is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. And to be honest, better than Asmir Begovic.

RB: Branislav Ivanovic

The Serbian is regaining the lost confidence and is slowly getting back to his usual best. If given time on the pitch, he is likely to prosper.

CB: Kurt Zouma

The French starlet has been a bright light for the Blues this season and has covered up for the poor performances of Gary Cahill and John Terry. And against a counter attacking side such as West Brom, a bruiser such as him would prove vital.

CB: Gary Cahill

The 30-year-old Englishman has struggled but has now become a regular starter this season. And he’s likely to start this game.

LB: Cesar Azpilicueta

Azpilicueta’s absence seems strange, when it comes to Chelsea. He goes about his work silently and efficiently, no matter where you deploy him. He’s a key part of the Chelsea armory, attack or defense.

CDM: Ruben Loftus Cheek

The youngster impressed quite well during Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe by scoring a goal and showing glimpses of his real capabilities. He can get a go against the Baggies too.

CDM: Cesc Fabregas

The Spaniard, who has mercurial last season has had a poor season this time around, but with Loftus Cheek and Matic now getting back to their best and the latter beginning to fulfil his potential, Fabregas has been seen playing a bit freely than he did under Mourinho.

LM: Pedro

The former Barcelona man has looked bright for the Blues this season and although, hasn’t scored or assisted too often, but he provides the spark of creativity and pace into this side. He’s got to make up for Eden Hazard too.

CAM: Oscar

With Eden Hazard out of form and out injured, Oscar has to play in behind the striker. He hasn’t had too exceptional a season but knows how to supply key passes to the players around him, which is important for Chelsea, considering their shortage of goals.

RM: Willian

The Brazilian has been a ray of hope in obscuring sparks this season and it won’t be much of a mistake to say that he has been their best player this season. With Hazard out, Willian has to deliver the goods for Hiddink’s men.

ST: Diego Costa

The Spaniard seems to be getting back to his best, but with a training spat involving him and Oscar being talked about, it can take a toll on the link up between him and the young Brazilian. It’s unlikely Loic Remy would start and would be thrown in if Chelsea are in need of a goal.
