Chelsea player Papy Djilobodji has completed a transfer to Sunderland. The news has been reported on Sunderland’s website and twitter account.
The 27-year-old joined Chelsea from Nantes last season for a fee of £2.7 million. However, all credit to the Chelsea board and the officials as the Blues have managed to sell him for a profit to newly promoted Sunderland for £8 million. The new boss of Sunderland, David Moyes, is keen to add some quality and Chelsea have clearly taken the opportunity. This makes Djilobodji the first Sunderland signing under Moyes.
Djilobodji made just one appearance for Chelsea last season and has played a total of 1 minute for the club when he made a stoppage time substitution for the club against Walsall. Post that he was sent on loan to Weder Bremen but David Moyes feels that the player could prove useful as Sunderland aims to stay in Premier League next season.
