Chelsea Transfers: Is It Worth Going Behind The Liverpool Ace?

Share

Luis Suarez is one player who is and probably will be continuing to make the headlines during this transfer season. He has openly stated his intention to leave Liverpool this summer and in multiple interviews, he has repeated what he said. Until Real Madrid make a quick offer for him that the Merseyside club just cannot refuse, the Suarez episode will continue to drag and a host of clubs will be linked to him.

Arsenal, who are looking to reinforce their striking department, have been previously linked with the Liverpool striker, however, with the ongoing Higuain frenzy at the Emirates, it is believed that the Gunners are not interested in the Uruguayan.

But what has surprised many is the fact that arsenal’s London rivals, Chelsea have made an offer for him as reported by Spanish media AS a few days back. Now for a team that has lost their primary target in Falcao, is on the verge of losing their another primary target Cavani to yet another cash enriched club and are nowhere near securing a deal for their third target, Lewandowski. So an offer for Suarez may not be the worst thing in the world?

But then the fact that this offer amazes most people who do not suffer from a short memory is for a reason. If we just move back a bit, Suarez was perfectly happy at Liverpool playing under Rodgers and being the central figure of the team. He was adored by the fans, loved by the teammates and always protected by his manager for his “small” mischief. Even after an incident as grave as the racist trouble with United defender Evra, he was not labelled as a villain by the club and somehow he scrapped through that event.

But then the bitegate happened. Suarez decided to chew more than he could digest and Chelsea defender Ivanovic was left with some impressions on his hand. An unconditional apology from the player followed, a 10 match suspension was also waiting for him and the public humiliation started. He blamed the English media for this and stated that the turn of events left a bad impression on his family and thus his desire to move out of the country was established.

Now if the same Suarez arrives at Chelsea next season, not only he has to play with Ivanovic in the same team, but also has to sustain the surmountable media pressure. Is it really necessary for a club of Chelsea’s stature to associate themselves with this mess or rather just move on to a safer target?
