It is not a kind of signing that Chelsea are often linked with, but Mauro Icardi, the Argentinian U-20 striker has been a target of Chelsea for sometime now and it looks like they will push for his signature at the end of this season.
19-year old Mauro Icardi of Sampdoria announced himself to the World recently with a string of fine displays that included a brace against Juventus and a whopping four goals against Pescara in Serie A.
According to Tuttosport, Napoli, Roma, Chelsea and Manchester City are keen on signing the Argentinian, and that the two English clubs are leading the chase, having already sent out scouts to watch him play. Mauro’s asking price would probably be just over €10m, which is a rather affordable price, and could turn out to be great business, but the Citizens may have an advantage over Chelsea, due to Mancini’s good relationship with Sampdoria.
However, given the way Chelsea and City operate, it will be a huge risk for the youngster to make a move as his first team chances may be affected if the English sides end up signing high profile strikers alongside him. Chelsea are vulturing around Spain to lay their hands on Falcao, meanwhile city are after Napoli forward Canvani.
