Chelsea Latest Including: Drogba To Return To Stamford Bridge? And Pre-Season Talks

Drogba

Didier Drogba is all set to return to Stamford Bridge. But hold on, he is not returning as a player, but as a role model to the younger lads. That’s what Mourinho said to the press;

“I can use Didier as a profile to persuade the young boys to follow me because he did follow me from day one.”

The Ivory Coast forward, now at Galatasaray, scored 157 goals in 341 appearances for Chelsea after being bought by Mourinho in 2004 from Marseille during the  Portuguese’ first spell at Stamford Bridge.

He was irresistible about the Chelsea legend.

“I think every player can have the same ambition that Didier had because he was a guy driven by ambition, by emotion, by friendship and by loyalty. He was loyal to the club, the manager, his fellow players and the fans.”

The combination of Mourinho-Drogba helped the Blues to clinch the league title in consecutive years during 2004-05 and 2005-06. Now he has to take the burden of transmitting the passion and love for blues into the next generation members.

On the other hand, Mourinho attested that he wants to shake off the criticism, and will play in an attacking mode, as the Russian club-owner Roman Abramovich wants to.

“I want to make the Chelsea fans happy – by results, by our playing style, by the mentality and the personality of the team,” is what he said.

Mourinho was severely criticised for his brutal way of managerial skills, back in his first spell at Stamford Bridge. But that didn’t bother him back then, because he had the success to sleep with.

“I know in my record at Chelsea – also at Inter and Madrid – that I made many decisions that helped my teams. If I gamble, as you sometimes call it in England, with a very risky decision, it can go the wrong way.”

 But the team that he left behind, now has only 3 prominent players of that time still performing. Football fans are waiting eagerly to see the Blues again storming at Stamford and Mourinho directing them. As long as the name is Jose Mourinho, you are sure of getting a new fascinating game to watch.

Before you go, catch up with the stars while they attended their first preseason training.
