Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 14: Players you must have in your team

As we enter the hectic month of December, games would now be coming thick and fast in the Barclays Premier League. Within just three days from the previous gameweek, each of the twenty teams in England’s top tier will be out on the pitch fighting against all odds in this excruciating period ahead of the festive season. While League leaders Arsenal entertain a resurgent Hull city side, who beat Liverpool on Sunday, Chelsea travel to the Stadium of Light to take on a depleted Sunderland side languishing at the bottom of the table. However the match of the week pits David Moyes, now at the helm of Old Trafford against his former club Everton.

We here at Soccersouls decided to provide all the fantasy managers around the Globe a bit of help by recommending some of the players you must have in your squad.

Goalkeepers:

Fantasy Premier League might actually be a no brainer for many amongst us. One goal conceded by your defender or your goalkeeper might cost you four points, eventually giving you just a couple of points in place of the richly deserved six. Talking of Goalkeepers Spurs’ Hugo Lloris can be given a look, just the fact that Tottenham travel to Craven cottage to take on a Fulham outfit, whose manager Martin Jol just got the boot. It will be Rene Meulensteen’s first game in charge and its pretty sure that he will be concerned. To add to his woes, his current crop hasn’t scored many recently.

Other profitable options would be Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny who has a home against Hull and Liverpool’s Mignolet who faces Norwich at Anfield and should overcome his blushes against Hull from last week.

Defenders:

Having a Chelsea defender, most probably John Terry, is worth the shout given the Blues travel away from home to take on a hapless Sunderland outfit. Elsewhere Arsenal’s defenders may not be the usual choice for the FPL managers, but this time around the Gunners have been rock solid at the back and to everyone’s surprise they are the league’s meanest defence alongside Southampton with just 10 goals leaked from the 13 games including the three goals that they conceded on the opening day of the season which goes to show their defensive maturity.

Koscielny might be solid at the back, but selecting Mertesacker will be your best bet as the French man tends to give away cheap penalties at times.

Midfielders:

If you are working on a shoestring budget, someone like a Ravel Morrison fits your bill perfectly. The Hammers man is a fair bet to get on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace on Wednesday. However, if you do have the luxury of spending make sure Eden Hazard or Samir Nasri is in for this Gameweek despite their huge price. Both of the players have the capability of scoring or providing assists. Same goes the case for Arsnenal’s Mesut Ozil, who was just scintillating against Cardiff grabbing two assists, which made Steve Bould say,”What a ball”.

Other profitable options are Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard. If you already have him in the team, don’t bother changing him, because at his price Gerrard gives you consistent no of points week in, week out. However if you don’t have him, considering the relatively easier fixtures ahead for the Reds, it would be a wise choice.

Strikers:

Talking of the Red Devils, Wayne Rooney is in scintillating form and at any cost must be on your squad. Rooney scored both of United’s goals against Spurs and would be looking to lead the line on his own as he tackles his boyhood club like his manager, from Merseyside.

Luis Suarez, on the other hand looked pretty much out of sorts against Hull during the weekend, but the kind of player the Uruguayan is, make no mistake he will itching to get on the scoresheet when Liverpool take the field against Norwich City on Wednesday. Arsenal’s Oliver Giroud might also be a good shout given the Gunners take on Hull City at the Emirates Stadium.

Other profitable options would be Man City’s Negredo and Southampton’s Rickie Lambert who faces Aston Villa at home.
