Aston Villa

Bruce to ring the changes – Predicted 4-3-3 Aston Villa XI to face Burton

Predicted Aston Villa line-up to face Burton in the EFL Cup

Aston Villa have been unbeaten this season but have managed to drop points to derail their march towards the top of the Championship. A perfect example was Steve Bruce’s men conceding a late equaliser against Reading to throw away two points on Saturday.

Injury issues might play a big part in Tuesday’s team selection from the manager. In any case, he would be tempted to ring the changes for this tie against Burton.

Team News

Jack Grealish and John McGinn got knocks in the last game and are expected to sit out this midweek clash. New signing Yannick Bolasie is injured, while Scott Hogan, Keinan Davies and Harry McKirdy remain sidelined due to injuries.

Probable Aston Villa XI

Manager: Steve Bruce

Formation: 4-3-3

Andre Moreira (GK)

Nyland hasn’t had a very comfortable start to the season, so Moreira might get a chance to impress the manager and improve his odds for starting a league game.

Ritchie De Laet (RB)

Expect Axel Tuanzebe to switch from right-back to centre-back, giving De Laet an opportunity to play in that position.

Axel Tuanzebe (CB)

The Manchester United loanee has been decent so far and has shown his versatility by playing several roles at the back.

Tommy Elphick

Tommy Elphick (CB)

James Chester may get a game off, which should allow Elphick to start this one alongside Tuanzebe.

Neil Taylor (LB)

Alan Hutton has taken up the left-back role with aplomb, however, his age won’t allow him to play three games a week. So, Neil Taylor could start this midweek fixture.

Glenn Whelan

Glenn Whelan (CDM)

The veteran has been in and out of the side, however, with McGinn injured, the former Stoke man should get his chance in the midfield.

Jake Doyle-Hayes (LCM)

The youngster started the previous game in the League Cup, so Birkir Bjarnason might get a rest for this match.

Conor Hourihane (RCM)

The 27-year-old would look to add steel and tenacity in the midfield, playing alongside an experienced Whelan.

Andre Green (LW)

The youngster may have to settle for sporadic opportunities, and he has to take them with both hands to break into the first-team.

Albert Adomah

Albert Adomah (RW)

The winger has blown hot and cold so far. Bruce would want more consistency from him.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (ST)

Jonathan Kodjia has played the league games, so Hepburn-Murphy, just like the previous round in the League Cup, may displace him from the starting line-up this midweek.
