Brilliant Murray – The Best And The Worst Rated Brighton Players From The 3-0 Win vs West Ham

Brighton & Hove Albion romped home to an emphatic 3-0 win over Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United, on Friday night, at the London Stadium. 

The Seagulls, coming on the back of a draw against Everton last weekend, started off greatly, with veteran striker Glenn Murray getting them off the blocks in only 10 minutes. Summer import Jose Izquierdo then doubled the visitors’ advantage right on the stroke of half-time, before Murray added another to his tally on the night, converting a penalty 15 minutes from the final whistle, to lead Chris Hughton’s men to a resounding 3-0 win. 

The result takes Brighton to the 10th place in the Premier League table, with 11 points on the board from 9 outings. And here we rate and slate the performances of the Seagulls’ stars:

Matthew Ryan – 7/10

A comfortable outing for the Aussie shot-stopper as the Hammers never really worked him enough. 

Bruno – 7.5/10

The captain was strong and solid at the back and drove his team forward on the right-hand side at every opportunity. 

Shane Duffy – 8/10

A majestic display at the heart of the defence from the former Evertonian. Took Javier Hernandez out of the equation completely.  

Lewis Dunk – 8/10

Showed why he was one of the best defenders in the Championship last season with a commanding display alongside Duffy. 

Gaetan Bong – 7/10

Had a few tough moments against Michail Antonio, especially in the first-half, but held his own and came out unscathed.  

Anthony Knockaert – 7.5/10

The Frenchman is getting back to his best and the performance against West Ham was another example of what he can do if he gets going. Was always a danger from the right wing, with his pace and incision. 

 

Dale Stephens – 7.5/10

Was immense in the midfield. Solid as a rock and used possession well, sending out forward passes for the likes of Murray and Pascal Gross.  

Davy Propper – 8/10

Another typically strong display in the middle of the park. The Dutchman never really allowed the Hammers midfield to get into groove. 

Jose Izquierdo – 8/10

A constant threat to the home side’s backline, the 25-year old got himself on the scoresheet with a powerful strike in the first-half. 

Pascal Gross – 8/10

Another exciting display from the 26-year old as he linked up brilliantly with Murray in front of him. Sent the striker on his way for the opener with a lovely pass. 

Glenn Murray – 9/10

Rolled back the years with a brilliant, old-fashioned, centre-forward display. Won 13 aerial duels in the attacking third, highlighting his physical dominance over the Hammers’ backline and scored two good goals to top it.

Came on for Izquierdo in the 70th minute. Came close to grabbing a goal.
