Brilliant Harry Kane – The Best And The Worst Rated Tottenham Player From The 1-1 Draw vs Real Madrid

Share

Full Time: Real Madrid 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur fought valiantly against Real Madrid as Mauricio Pochettino’s men held the European champions to a 1-1 draw. Spurs took the lead at the Santiago Bernabeu in the 28th minute, with Raphael Varane diverting Serge Aurier’s cross into his own net.

Real equalised right before half-time as Aurier’s clumsy challenge on Toni Kroos led to a penalty for the home side, with Cristiano Ronaldo making no mistake from the spot. In the second half, Harry Kane could have stolen a huge three points for Spurs with 20 minutes left on the clock but Keylor Navas denied his effort with a superb save. All in all, this will be an important point earned for Spurs considering the sheer strength of Real Madrid.

Tottenham Player Ratings

Hugo Lloris – 7/10

Lloris made a series of great stops even though he was unable to save Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty.

Toby Alderweireld – 6.5/10

Alderweireld did not seem comfortable last night. He was a part of a five-man defence for Spurs but he could not make an impact. He lost Benzema on a lot of occasions which could have costed them dear.

Davinson Sanchez – 7/10

He did play a major role in keeping the opposition at bay but he did not do anything extraordinary last night. His pace proved to be crucial for Spurs.

Jan Vertonghen – 6.5/10

Vertonghen played too far left and he somehow never seemed comfortable which may have hampered his performance. He did make one or two crucial interventions though.

Moussa Sissoko – 6/10

Sissoko gave away way too many free kicks and was extremely wasteful of whatever chances came his way.

Eric Dier – 7.5/10

It is still a mysterious question as to whether or not he suits the midfield more but he was quite solid last night considering the strength of the opposition.

Harry Winks – 7/10

Playing in the midfield against a side like Real Madrid in a Champions League encounter can seem like a daunting task for a lot of youngsters but Winks was not intimidated at all. In fact, he did his duty quite well as he helped the club fight for control in that area.

Serge Aurier – 6/10

Aurier was shoddy in terms of his style. He received a booking and also gave away that game-changing penalty. He was responsible for Spurs’ goal, to an extent.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10

Eriksen was overshadowed by Luka Modric for major parts in the game but he did have his creative moments now and then.

Harry Kane – 8.5/10

Harry Kane was his usual fiery self but he will be regretting the chance he failed to convert which could have made things so different. A good performance, nevertheless.

Subs

Danny Rose – N/A

The Englishman came on for Llorente in the 80th minute and made an appearance on the pitch after a long time.

Son Heung-min – N/A

Son came on for Moussa Sissoko in the 89th minute.
