Brilliant Arnautovic, Poor Masuaku – The best and the worst rated West Ham players vs Huddersfield

West Ham helped themselves to a 4-1 thrashing of Huddersfield away from home. David Moyes bagged his 200th Premier League win as a manager in some style, with goals coming from long-serving Mark Noble, Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini (2).

Huddersfield looked slow while defending as they didn’t close down the opponents. They allowed West Ham to have a lot of time on the ball and made horrible errors that are just not acceptable in this division.

The first goal was well taken by the Hammers captain, who capitalised on a give away in the box. This lead was cancelled out by a stunning curler from Joe Lolley, which ultimately was all that the Terriers could smile about. Right from the first play in the second half, Marko Arnautovic, along with Manuel Lanzini who looks a much different forward under David Moyes, dismantled and extirpated Huddersfield’s defence. The Hammers are now 11th on the table for the time being, ahead of today’s opponents.

Adrian: 7/10

He couldn’t do much about the goal but made a couple of stellar saves, especially off Pritchard’s free kick.

James Collins: 8/10

He was superb aerially and while defending set-pieces, Collins was always alert. Looked very comfortable despite having been out of the side of late.

Angelo Ogbonna: 9/10

Ogbonna was like a pillar at the back, got down well to make the blocks, made important interceptions and cleared his lines well.

Aaron Cresswell: 8/10

A real force when getting forward, providing some whip and width, but another lightweight defensive display in the first half an hour or so, which got much better as the game went on.

Pablo Zabaleta: 6/10

A mixed performance from his side in terms of his battle with Van La Parra as the winger outclassed him in the first half. But due to the West Ham dominance in the second, the Argentine got the better of him.

Cheikhou Kouyate: 6/10

Was not at his best when it came to occupying the right places in the midfield but a fine defensive presence in the box.

Pedro Obiang: 6.5/10

Had an excellent outing but should have pressed and not allowed Lolley to cut inside and have the time to place it. Obiang could have and should have put his body on the line.

Mark Noble: 8.5/10

He was almost everywhere on the pitch because he covered a lot of ground, did all the running and started off with a classy finish to give his side a lead.

Arthur Masuaku: 5/10

Got caught out of position for the goal and didn’t get forward as well as he’d have liked to. A below average performance from him.

Manuel Lanzini: 9.5/10

Lanzini was quick, clever and fluent with the ball. His combination with Masuaku and Arnautovic was exquisite. Both his goals just showed how confident he is under Moyes.

Marko Arnautovic: 10/10

Arnautovic always looked sharp and smart when on the ball as he got away from players with ease, supported his fellow players up front and gelled well. He led the Irons completely, as he had a direct contribution to all the goals scored. The Austrian set Mark Noble and Lanzini (for the Argentine’s second goal), along with his own stunning goal right after the second half started. His best performance in a West Ham shirt by some distance.
