Breaking: Chelsea Willing To Spend £11m-a-year To Play At A New Stadium

An impressive opening consultation and presentation were held last week showing Chelsea’s potential new stadium, though a major concern would still remain about the Blues’ temporary home in the three years or so, during the rebuilding of Stamford Bridge. The west London side have explored the possibility of using Twickenham, but now it would seem most likely that Wembley could be the preferred option, and perhaps the more realistic one.

Chelsea have offered nearly £11m a year to use Wembley on a temporary basis while Stamford Bridge will be rebuilt.

The Premier League champions have already made a presentation to the Wembley Stadium’s board, as they wish to play at the national stadium for three years, probably from the start of the 2017-18 season, as per a report from The Times.

The report further added that Jose Mourinho’s side were leading London rivals Tottenham, with respect to using Wembley as a temporary home.

Spurs were ready to offer £8m a year for the two years they will need a temporary home and though either side could still win the race, Wembley’s overall capacity will have to be limited to less than 50,000, as the number of events need to be limited.
