The Best And The Worst Rated Arsenal Players vs Liverpool

Share

Arsenal were defeated in a high scoring first match of the season against Liverpool. Even when Arsenal took the lead through Theo Walcott, one didn’t feel comfortable. The stadium was nervous from the start, given how Gunners have done in the summer transfer window. With so many first team players missing, Liverpool were somewhat favorites to win the match. The first half belonged to Arsenal even though Coutinho scored a beauty at the end to level the score. It was the initial burst in the second half that gave Liverpool a 4-1 lead, however, the introduction of Chamberlain and Cazorla change the momentum. The English international scored an excellent individual goal, while Cazorla delivered a beautiful free kick in the box that Chambers used perfectly. Here is the Arsenal player rating for the match against Liverpool.

Petr Cech 7

Made a couple of excellent reflex saves. Can’t be blamed for any of the goals as such, took time to set up his wall for Coutinho’s free kick but was beaten by the brilliance of the strike.

Nacho Monreal 8

Got forward on numerous occasions, however, his service was often under par. Defensively had a hard job of containing the pacey Mane and due to that one moment of magic from the former Southampton player, I think he lost the battle.

Calum Chambers 7

The understanding with Holding was completely lacking in some situations. Did score the third goal for Arsenal that made things interesting. Needs to do better if he wants to become a regular.

Rob Holding 7

Started out very assured but lost his barring as the game went on. in the second half looked very nervous. Will be a squad player only this season.

Hector Bellerin 7

Another defender who disappointed a little today. Needed to get more forward but was stuck chasing back as Liverpool attacked with pace.

Elneny 7

An average performance by the Egyptian, kept things ticking over in the first half. Was substituted in the second half as Wenger introduced more quality in the form of Granit Xhaka.

Coquelin 7

Very lucky to have got away without a red card after he made numerous fouls even after getting booked. Might be carrying an injury.

Aaron Ramsey 7

Was pretty well until he picked up a serious looking injury. Wenger will be very worried about his Welsh star.

Theo Walcott 8

Looked shaky at the start and everyone feared the worst when the English international missed the penalty but he soon redeemed himself with an amazing finish that gave Arsenal the lead.

Alex Iwobi 7

Fully justified his selection in the starting XI, had to be withdrawn and Wenger went for goals. A very consistent performer.

Alexis Sanchez 7

Difficult to say whether he is fully matched fit, as he did a lot of running but with much end product. Wenger needs his star man to be firing soon.
