Barnes And Gray To Start: Strongest 4-4-2 Burnley Line-Up To Face Everton

SEAN-DYCHE

Predicted Burnley Lineup To Take On Everton

Burnley will pay a visit to the Goodison Park this weekend, as they gear up to take on Ronald Koeman’s Everton in the Premier League.

The Clarets currently find themselves at 12th position in the league standings, 8 points above the drop zone, but come into the game on the back of a frustrating goalless draw against relegation contenders Middlesbrough. Sean Dyche will be hoping that his team can put up a better showing against the Toffees. The last time the two sides met at the Turf Moor, Burnley managed to defeat Everton 2-1 and the fans will be hoping for a similar performance away from home as well.

Team News

Midfielder Steven Defour is a doubt for the game after having sat out of the Middlesbrough encounter due to a leg problem. Johann Berg-Gudmundsson is expected to be fit but is unlikely to play any part in the game. Dean Marney has been ruled out for the season and hence will not be available for selection.

Here is how Burnley could line up against Everton:

Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Sean Dyche

Tom Heaton (GK)

The Burnley captain has been a rock at the back for the team and is an inspirational presence between the sticks. Undisputed No.1 and will start against Everton.

Matthew Lowton (RB)

The full-back has been excellent in the past few games for the Clarets. Dyche will be hoping that he keeps continuing the same way against the Toffees.

Michael Keane (CB)

One of the best centre-backs in the league this season, Keane continues to impress week after week. Sure starter at the Goodison Park.

Ben Mee (CB)

One of Burnley’s best performers this season, Mee has been as solid and reliable as it gets. He will continue to partner Keane at the heart of their defence.

Stephen Ward (LB)

The 31-year old too has shown decent form in recent fixtures and has been a consistent performer for Burnley over the course of the season. He will take the left-back slot.

George Boyd (RM)

The Scottish international has scored just twice this season, but his efforts for the cause of the team are unquestionable. And that is why he is a sure starter week in week out.

Jeff Hendrick (CM)

The Republic of Ireland international has become a mainstay in the middle of the park since his arrival in the summer. He will once again take the field this weekend against the Merseysiders.

Joey Barton (CM)

Alongside Hendrick, it will be the controversial midfielder, Joey Barton. The veteran has added a tenacity to the Burnley midfield since his arrival in January and is trusted by the manager, to deliver week in week out.

Scott Arfield (LM)

The 28-year Arfield has been preferred on the left flank ahead of January signing Robbie Brady in recent weeks. We expect it to stay the same against Everton as well.

Ashley Barnes (ST)

At the top, Ashley Barnes will start the game and will hope to add to his 5 league goals this season.

Andre Gray (ST)

Partnering Barnes in attack will be Andre Gray. The 25-year old has been playing well and would be hoping to draw the limelight with his performances.
