Troy Deeney To Start: Strongest 4-3-3 Watford Line-Up To Face Swansea City

Walter Mazzarri

Predicted Watford Lineup To Face Swansea City

Watford FC will welcome relegation battlers Swansea City to the Vicarage Road this Saturday in Matchweek 33 of the Premier League.

The Hornets are comfortably placed at 10th position in the league standings and have won 2 of their last 3 league games. However, they will come into the game on the back of a 4-0 thrashing by Tottenham Hotspur last weekend but could see this game as the perfect opportunity to bounce back. The last time the two teams met, the game ended in a goalless draw, but Watford manager Walter Mazzarri will be hoping for three points from this game.

Team News

Mazzarri has seen a lot of injuries recently and has had to make to do with a squad that has been heavily overworked in recent weeks. Defender Sebastian Prodl is a major doubt for the game alongside midfielders Ben Watson and Valon Behrami. Younes Kaboul is a certain absentee due to a hamstring injury. Defender Miguel Britos will miss out due to suspension. Roberto Pereyra and Mauro Zarate are ruled out for the season.

Here is how Watford could line up against Swansea:

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Walter Mazzarri

Heurelho Gomes (GK)

The 36-year old shot-stopper hasn’t missed a single league game this season and averages 2.58 saves per game this season. Sure starter between the sticks.

Daryl Janmaat (RB)

With so many key defenders missing in the backline, Daryl Janmaat should retain his place in the starting XI at right-back position.

Adrian Mariappa (CB)

With Younes Kaboul, Sebastian Prodl and Miguel Britos unavailable, Mariappa, who started the game against Tottenham, should feature once again from the start.

Craig Cathcart (CB)

Slotting alongside Mariappa will be Craig Cathcart. The 28-year old has been used sparingly this season but is all set to make his 16th league appearance.

Jose Holebas (LB)

The Greek international has had a decent season so far having scored twice and has chipped in 4 assists. Should start at left-back.

Watford

Etienne Capoue (CM)

Was on the bench for the game against Tottenham as a precaution. But after the thrashing that they received, he should be reinstated to the line-up.

Tom Cleverley (CM)

Has played regularly over the last few weeks and is in danger of getting exhausted. However, with the lack of options, Mazzarri will be forced to play him.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (CM)

Another midfielder who is on the fringes of exhaustion, Doucoure will also have to soldier on in the midfield for the Hornets.

Nordin Amrabat (RW)

The 30-year old Moroccan international hasn’t had a great campaign as he is yet to open the scoring and has just set up 3 goals. He will be hoping to make an impact late in the season.

Troy Deeney (ST)

The Englishman started the game on the bench against Spurs last weekend. But he is in line for a return to the starting XI for the game against the Swans.

M’Baye Niang (LW)

The loan signing has made an immediate impact since arriving in January and has become an invaluable member of the squad. Definite starter.
