Barcelona reuniting with this 27-year-old world-class star is a no-brainer but not at the expense of Dembele

Barcelona opinion: Should Barca sign Neymar?

According to a report from Sport, Barcelona are preparing to bring Neymar from PSG after the Parisian club CEO admitted that the Brazilian star is free to leave this summer.

The 27-year-old never looked the same happy figure that he used to be at Camp Nou since his world record move to French Capital. In fact, Neymar’s journey in the past two seasons was laden with injuries, trophy droughts and controversies.

Despite the injury struggles, Neymar never looked off-colour in terms of performances as his impact was clearly seen from day one. He has bagged 23 goals and 13 assists in the recently ended season, while he garnered a 34-goal haul in the 2017-18 campaign.

Should Barca sign Neymar?

While at Barca, there is an increasing demand for a quality forward after two expensive signings in Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele failed to make their mark.

Despite an impressive start, Coutinho suffered a certain dip in form, which saw his scoring rate drastically decline, while Dembele’s unmatched potential couldn’t be brought into the limelight, owing to his recurring woes.

Furthermore, Coutinho, who looks a different figure for Brazil in Copa America now, wants to seek an exit from Nou Camp after admitting that he couldn’t live up to his expectations.

The Blaugrana are willing to shell out €100m plus a player in order to bring the former Santos man to La Liga. And Neymar would be the solution Ernesto Valverde would be looking for to establish their reign in the Champions League.

The Brazilian forward has shown everyone his compatibility on the field with fellow players Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi. Furthermore, the attacking trio prevailed as untouchables for quite a long period across Europe.

Verdict

With Barca’s move to bring back Neymar looks possible, it should not be done at the expense of French winger Dembele. The 22-year-old has shown everyone a glimpse of his talent but failed to overcome his injury struggles.

While the former Dortmund man is expected to play his first full season without any form of injuries, the Blaugrana should clear the air over the youngster’s future and ensure him more confidence.
