Attention to details and 2 other things Unai Emery will bring to Arsenal that could take the Premier League by storm

Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of Unai Emery as their new head coach via their official website.

Emery, who recently led Paris Saint-Germain to a domestic treble, has now been tasked with filling the huge void left by Arsene Wenger, who was in charge of the north London club for 22 years.

Now that Emery has become Arsenal’s manager, here are three things he will bring to the club that might surprise everyone.

Attention to details

Throughout his career, Emery has been a manager who has always heavily focused on the minute details of the game. It is indeed a tiring and relentless scrutiny but depends on how players with different characters adapt to it. For some at Arsenal, it can be taxing and for others, it may be the ideal plan to revitalise themselves.

At Paris Saint-Germain, Emery stuck to his old guns and emphasised on small details of how each player in the team should function. Arsenal fans can expect the same from the Spaniard, who will get more freedom to express himself at Emirates than he did at Paris.

Hunger for trophies

At Sevilla, Emery won three Europa League titles in a row – beating Benfica, FC Dnipro and Liverpool in three finals. His serial success with Sevilla saw him get appointed by PSG in 2016.

While PSG’s appointment of Emery was purely to help them in the Champions League, the 46-year-old, despite a bumpy ride, finally found some domestic success with the Parisian club, guiding them to Ligue 1, Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue this campaign.

Arsenal’s miserable season has resulted in the Gunners qualifying for Europa League football for the second straight season. However, the Europa League is Emery’s hunting ground and if he manages to replicate his success in the competition with the Gunners, it would be massive.

Experience

Emery remains one of Europe’s brightest emerging managers and to write him off on the basis of his uneven spell at PSG would be ludicrous. The 46-year-old has been managing in Europe for over 13 years, with his first job being Lorca Deportiva in January 2005.

Certainly, hiring Emery seems less of a gamble than hiring someone like Arteta. While the former Arsenal skipper has been a fantastic assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, he has no first-hand managerial experience.

The most obvious answer for Arsenal was to settle for Emery and not Arteta. Emery has the experience of managing top clubs.

The Spaniard may not be a popular choice amongst the Arsenal faithful due to his failure with PSG in the Champions League, but the Gunners’ hierarchy spotted the 46-year-old as the man to deliver rich success.

In short, Arsenal hired Emery as Wenger’s successor solely because he was the safest available option, and they wouldn’t regret it.
