Predicting Arsenal’s Next Four Results: Can They Finish Above Manchester City ?

Share

Not many would have predicted Arsenal staying at the top of the league standings, alright second on goal difference, after 12 games. The Gunners have been one of the best teams in the league and for once look formidable in their title challenge. Of course, we have seen many Arsenal teams start strong and then fade away towards the end of the season but something seems to be a little different with this Arsenal team. They seem to be able to get the results they need, without always playing exciting, electric football. Arsenal fans will keep in mind the thrashing they got from Bayern Munich which all but ends their chances of making it out of the group stages of the UEFA Champions League, but that should allow the team to concentrate on winning the Premier League.

Arsenal are tied at the top of the table with Manchester City and are only two points ahead of fourth-placed Manchester United. We look ahead to their next four Premier League fixtures and predict how well they would do against the opposition.

West Bromwich – Away

The Gunners return to Premier League duty against West Bromwich Albion away. They will go up against someone who has had a habit of getting under the skin of Arsene and Arsenal, Tony Pulis but with West Brom, Pulis could surmount a different challenge.

Brom are without a point from their last two games and this game might be a little too tough for them. Arsenal are in superb form and should easily get the three points against West Bromwich Albion.

Norwich – Away

Norwich might not be turning heads in the Premier League but they are out of the relegation zone at the moment and that would be great news for manager Alex Neil. Norwich return to action against Chelsea, who are placed beneath them and that, might take a lot out of the team before they host Arsenal.

The Gunners would have played a Champions League game in between and facing Norwich away isn’t the easiest task. It all depends on how Arsenal play against Dinamo Zagreb in between the two games and if they get a positive result against the Croatians, they could get another win though a draw seems a more likely result against a decent Norwich side.

Sunderland – Home

You do fear for Sunderland, even the great Sam Allardyce seems to have bitten more than he can chew with the Black Cats. Sunderland will have to play a couple of crunch ties against Crystal Palace and Stoke City before they travel to Arsenal and truth be told, this has three points written for the Gunners from every angle unless a nasty stomach bug infects the entire Arsenal squad.

Aston Villa – Away

Rock bottom at the moment and with Sunderland just ahead of them, Remi Garde has an even tougher task than Sam Allardyce, though the Frenchman did get a point in his opening game against Manchester City, Garde would need a lot more grit to keep this Arsenal team quiet.

Arsenal would have travelled to Greece for their last Champions League group stage game before playing Villa and that could give the Villains some hope of getting a point from this game. Arsenal might just have more firepower, but Aston Villa should get a point against Arsene Wenger’s men.
