According to a report from The Sun, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham have all joined the race to sign Dynamo Kiev star Mykola Shaparenko.
The young Ukrainian is regarded as a future star and excelled last season, helping Dynamo Kiev to the last 16 in the Europa League.
The 20-year-old broke into Dynamo Kiev’s first team in November 2017 and gone from strength-to-strength, signing a contract keeping him at the side until 2023. He made 33 appearances for the club last season and scored eight times for the Ukrainian outfit.
That has seen Mykola Shaparenko attract the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including the aforementioned Premier League quartet. With that in mind, Arsenal must do everything possible to win the race for the 20-year-old’s signature.
Arsenal so far have made just one summer signing, bringing in young Brazilian striker Gabriel Martinelli. Saint-Etienne’s 18-year-old defender William Saliba is set to join but then be loaned back to the Ligue 1 club, thus adding no benefit to the Gunners side immediately.
Thus, it perhaps would be a good idea to splash the cash on yet another prodigy in the shape of Mykola Shaparenko.
The Dynamo Kiev star is only 20 and while he has a contract at the club until 2023, he won’t likely consume a large chunk of Emery’s restricted transfer budget this summer. And the young gun could certainly solve one of the Gunners’ most important problems next season.
The north London giants lost the services of Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer to Juventus, leaving Emery with Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi as options in central midfield. Mohamed Elneny is very likely to leave the club this summer which would further deplete the squad’s depth in midfield.

That should make Shaparenko a good fit at the Emirates. An attacking midfielder by trade, the 20-year-old is equally adept playing in central midfield as well as on either of the flanks.
