International breaks are always a matter of concern for the Arsenal fans and although long term absentees Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski would be benefited as they target their return to first team action soon, there were reports earlier suggesting that Mesut Ozil is not well and might sit out on Germany’s clash against Italy tomorrow.
However, German coach Joachim Low has reported that the 24-year old is well and is ready to start against the Italians.
“Mesut is feeling better,” Low was quoted as saying by Bild. “I expect that he will take full part in our final training session [on Thursday].” (Goal.com)
The German International was not quite to himself during the Manchester United game last Sunday and it was feared that he was suffering from the Flu which had affected Mertesacker and Rosicky. Ozil who called in sick following United’s game has since then joined his International team mates on Wednesday and looks set to play for the Germans.
Ozil has insisted that he was simply out for dinner and it had nothing to do with him calling in sick. He explained:
“We didn’t get back until late in the evening after the game in Manchester,” the former Real Madrid man explained.
“I went out for dinner after that, but that does not have anything to do with me calling in sick.
“I did not have any problems in the game against United and played for the full 90 minutes.”
Although Ozil might play tomorrow, Arsenal fans would be hoping otherwise. Having played week in, week out since his arrival from Madrid the midfielder deserves a short break before Arsenal’s hectic December schedule looms closer.
