Arsenal, Tottenham, And More – 3 Possible Destinations For This La Liga Goal Machine

Share

Over the years, Karim Benzema has established himself as one of the finest and the most hard-working strikers of the game. Having joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 from French side Olympique Lyon, the Frenchman has become one of the most prominent figures at the Santiago Bernabeu. During his time in the Spanish capital, Benzema has netted an impressive 173 times from his 230 appearances across all competitions, becoming a world-class striker along the way.

However, his performances have been on the wane in recent weeks. After starting the season strongly, the 29-year old has hit a rough patch and has struggled to find the back of the net. And according to recent reports, the Frenchman is looking for an exit from Madrid in the summer transfer window. Benzema is reportedly at a stage where he is looking for a new challenge in his career and no better destination than the Premier League. Benzema, over the years, has been linked with all the top English teams and here we pick out three perfect destinations in the English top-flight for the Frenchman to consider, if he decides to move on:

Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has always had an eye on his compatriot from his days back in Lyon and the Gunners have been once again credited with an interest in Benzema according to latest reports. The North Londoners haven’t won a single league title since 2004 and once again they will have to make do with another top-four finish this term as well. The likes of Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud have been scoring regularly, but something seems to be missing for the Gunners at the top and Benzema could be that missing link.

The Frenchman’s years of experience at one of the biggest clubs in the world, having won plenty of titles and honours will benefit Arsenal and provide them with a world-class striker, especially with rumours linking Sanchez with an exit.

Manchester United

The Red Devils have found it hard to score at times this year, with Zlatan the only consistent scorer. Rooney has struggled big time, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial haven’t been scoring with the same regularity as last term. With Wayne Rooney’s departure likely to happen and Zlatan Ibrahimović’s advancing age, bringing in someone of the calibre of Benzema will provide Manchester United with a reliable source of goals upfront.

Benzema has worked with Jose Mourinho before, during the Portuguese manager’s days at the helm of Madrid, and flourished under the current United boss. Mourinho played a huge hand in Benzema’s rise to the top and a chance to work with each other once again could be too enticing for the two to turn down. However, the lack of Champions League action might prove to be a dampener, if United fail to qualify for the second successive season.

Tottenham Hotspur

The Lilywhites have emerged as one of the top clubs in England over the past two years under Mauricio Pochettino and with another stint in the Champions League almost certain, White Hart Lane could become a potential destination for big stars in the future.

Harry Kane has emerged as one of the most promising strikers in England and has been the driving force behind Tottenham in recent seasons. However, the heavy reliance on the Englishman is something that has hurt them in the past and with European football a surety once again, an experienced head like Benzema could come in and help the team in many ways. It may go against their policy of recruiting young players, but with Tottenham becoming a regular challenger for the title, a seasoned pro with world-class abilities like Benzema will only benefit them greatly.
