Spanish player Saul Niguez has been high in Arsenal’s transfer radar for some time now. Currently playing for Atletico Madrid, Niguez is an intelligent midfielder who can play box-to-box or in the centre-half.
Arsenal has been linked with the player for sometime after a failed transfer attempt in January transfer window. Arsenal were reportedly very close to signing the player in January, but an injury suffered by fellow teammate Tiago meant that Niguez was needed at Atletico Madrid.
The player’s contract with Atletico expires at 2020, however Madrid are believed to be keen on revisiting the contract as the release clause for Niguez is on the lower side.
Although Jorge Mendes being the agent of the player is a big problem for Atletico which means demands are high on the club and they may let go of the player sooner rather than later, Saul is still important for the club as Madrid have signed Fernandez and Kranevitter, however Fernandez is not all that great and Kranevitter needs time to adapt while existing players Tiago and Gabi is ageing.
