Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly wants to appoint former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman as the first team goal keeping coach.
Current No1 Wojciech Szczesny’s poor form in recent times is considered to be the main reason behind this search for new coach, according to The Mirror. Szczesny was dropped for last two Arsenal games and a mentor like David Seaman would be really helpful for him to gain his lost confidence back.
Another ex- Arsenal goal keeper Jens Lehmann is also in contention for the coaching role. Seaman won the double with Gunners in 1998, while Lehmann was part of the famous ‘Arsenal Invincibles’ team that went one whole season without a defeat (2003-04).
The report claims both Lehmann and Seaman have been already spotted at Arsenal’s London Colney training base in recent weeks. However, Wenger could look at other candidates as well. If these reports are true, the present GK coach Gerry Peyton will most probably leave in Summer.
