While rumours of Atletico Mineiro star Bernard are spreading across Emirates stadium, the father of the Brazilian international has discarded any proposed rumour about Arsenal. During last few days, speculations were that Arsenal were eyeing the 20 year old winger.
Currently plying his trade at Brazil Serie A outfit Atletico Mineiro, this youngster is better known for his agility and enormous energy. He has attracted the eyes of few top notched clubs of Europe which resulted into a whopping £22 million transfer fee demand by the Mineiro officials. After winning the Copa Libertadores, Bernard has made his mind to try his luck in Europe.
But the dilemma of Arsenal may prove fatal for the Premier League club. Portuguese club Porto may take this chance as they are also eyeing the winger and now are in the pole position to have Bernard. Bernard’s countryman Hulk has pleaded the youngster to join Porto. On contrary, Bernard’s father Delio Duarte affirmed no official offer from the Gunners.
“Nothing is decided yet but we know there is interest from Arsenal. However, there has been nothing official from them,” Duarte told O Jogo.
“Hulk has convinced Bernard that Porto would be better for him at this stage of his career.”
So far, this youngster has 21 goals in 98 appearances for the Brazilian side.
In other news, Arsenal’s 21 year old performer Jack Wilshere is seemed to be delighted with his fitness during the Gunners pre-season tour. This England international has been cursed often with injuries. He plays as a central midfielder for the Gunners and so far made 97 appearances for them.
Wilshere told:
“I felt better and better every game.”
“It’s difficult with the conditions. You struggle to catch your breath. The performances have got better every game and the opposition have got harder every game so it’s good preparation.” The club’s website quoted him saying.
