Arsenal FC News: According to the reports from Metro UK, Arsenal are interested in Getafe defender Djene Dakonam.
The reports state Unai Emery has scouted the Togolese international in last night’s game against Valencia.
The centre back has a release clause of €35m.(h/t Metro UK)
Dakonam joined the Spanish club back in 2017 after agreeing on a four-year deal.
The 27-year-old earlier had his spell at Alcorcon, the club which plays in the Second Division of Spanish football.
He was transferred to Belgian club Saint-Truidense in 2016 before joining the La Liga side.
The central defender has made 26 appearances for Getafe this season and looks to have impressed the former Valencia manager.
He made his international debut for Togo in 2012 and has made 39 appearances till now.
Dakonam can play either as a centre-back or a right-back.
The Togolese international would be a perfect replacement for ageing Koscielny and Papastathopoulos. Moreover, the defender is available at an affordable cost.
Emery wouldn’t find it difficult to persuade an undermined defender to the Premier League.
The North London side produced an emphatic come back against Rennes in the Europa League overturning the 1-3 deficit.
The Victory marked the second big win in a row with the first one came against Manchester United.
The Gunners will maximize their chances financially if they manage to retain a place in the top 4 at the end of this season.
They are currently fourth in the Premier League table leading Red Devils by two points.
Emery’s men will face Napoli in the quarter-finals of UEFA Europa League.
