Arsenal And Liverpool To Battle It Out, Consider Dropping Michu And Fellaini – Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 24 Preview

Gameweek 24 has been scheduled midweek because of the FA Cup ties which were held in the weekend and it promises a great deal of action straight away. Apart from Arsenal and Liverpool who play each other, all the other heavyweight teams play relatively easier opponents and thus every team would like to secure the maximum points available.

Newcastle, who are leaving no stones unturned to secure the services of as many French players possible, play Aston Villa and it would be a test for Pardrew to show some results after a disappointing season so far. Some of the most important factors that the Fantasy Premier League managers must keep in mind this week are as follows.

Arsenal and Liverpool battle it out 

It would be an acid test for both the clubs as they would like to end their topsy turvy season and pose a real threat to the Champion’s League spot. While Arsenal managed to progress to the next round of FA Cup, courtesy a late goal by Walcott against Brighton, Liverpool stumbled against Oldham and is out of the competition. Therefore, both the teams would like to put their past behind them and establish their stronghold in the League.

While Cazorla remains a Fantasy Premier League favorite  Walcott and Giroud with his current form can be considered well in the teams. From Liverpool, Sturridge looks sure to play and act as the main striker with Suarez playing behind him in the hole. Thus the inclusion of Sturridge in the team could be pretty fruitful, while Sterling has gone down in the pecking order of Rodgers and does not look sure-shot inclusion in the team as he used to be. It may be time that the managers consider transferring out Sterling and go for someone like Puncheon or Routledge.

Michu and Fellaini’s dropping form

 Over the past couple of weeks both Michu and Fellaini’s form have been on a descending curve, which has been a worry for their Fantasy Premier League owners. While Michu’s return has been a meager 10 in the last 4 gameweeks, Fellaini has produced just 1 assist in the last 3 gameweeks. This will definitely bother their 49% and 34.3% owners respectively and it will not be long when they start to think about possible replacements for the midfielders.

The other worry for the owners of Fellaini would be the role handed to him by Moyes. On occasions he has been dropped deep and thus it would be increasingly difficult for him to score or find an assist. Michu, on the other hand, has been used primarily as a lone striker and it is expected that very soon he will again find the back of the net. With quite easy fixture for both of them, we would not suggest the managers to transfer them out immediately, especially because their prices are in no threat to drop, and wait for sometime and monitor their performance.

Clint Dempsey can be vital 

As proved last week, when Demsey plays, more often than not, he is going to score. But the question till now was whether he is going to play for full ninety minutes. That doubt seems to have been rest assured with Adebayor playing the African Cup of Nations and Defoe also suffering from a hip injury.

It opens the gate for Demsey to make his mark in the first team and with Bale and Lennon behind him to support, he is set to rake in some points for his Fantasy Premier League owners. Maybe his price at £9.0m is a bit too high for a midfielder, but then his prospects at the moment justify that price.
