Arsenal: Aaron Ramsey – The Reason To Be Excited

Share

After the weekend Premier League fixtures, Arsenal regained their top spot in the league table, despite their 1-1 draw to West Bromwich Albion away from home.

The joy did not stop there for the club fans after their manager Arsene Wenger, along with the Gunners’ star player in this campaign so far, Aaron Ramsey won the manager and player of the month respectively.

Ramsey played a crucial role in the goals scored by the North London side in the month of September. The Wales international netted four times while managed an assist, which saw him bag the monthly award.

Arsenal scored 11 goals in September during their four league games during which the 22-year-old was directly involved in five occasions, which includes a goal and an assist during the Gunners’ 2-1 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

The Welshman’s meteoric rise in form this season has taken everyone by surprise. He is well supported by summer signing and former Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil. Ramsey’s partnership with the German International has made the Emirates club one of the formidable force to win the Premier League title this season.

Ramsey’s rare goal scoring abilities until the start of the campaign was not up to the mark, with a long term injury keeping him out of action for over a year earlier in his career.

Should Ramsey continue his brilliant form till the end of the season, it definitely puts Arsenal in the prime position to win the top flight competition in England. At the same time, it will also help Wenger’s side to end their eight year long trophy drought.

Ramsey’s consistent form could also see him win the Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year award, which was won by his compatriot Gareth Bale during the last campaign. The former Tottenham Hotspur star left the Premier League and completed the world record move to Madrid earlier in the summer.

Wenger, who has seen Arsenal win all the four league games has been awarded with the manager of the month for September. The Frenchman has rubbished the suggestion of his side being the favourites to win the title this season and has claimed those remarks to be premature.

The Gunners manager would be hoping to continue his side’s performance throughout the year and with the possible addition of a world class striker in January, Arsenal could be there to finally break their trophy drought this season.

Arsene Wenger has stuck by the player he lured as a 17-year-old prodigy, and is delighted with his revival.

“Let’s not forget, his career was disturbed by a big injury and you need to have patience,” Wenger said.

“After that people were impatient and put pressure on him when he had bad games, but I believe that was the turning point — when he was questioned.

“It is always an important period in the life of a footballer. Can you get back to basics and work harder? Or do you feel sorry for yourself and give up?

“When I saw him respond how he did I always knew he could come back that’s why I kept faith in him.

“He has improved his technique and does not rush his decisions. For example his goal needed a good first touch and a quick finish, and he did not rush it. He showed his confidence.

No one has had more influence on Arsenal’s remarkable start to the season – top of the EPL, an away streak now at 12 unbeaten games on the trot – than rejuvenated Welshman Aaron Ramsey.
