Alexander-Arnold and Wijnaldum to start – Strongest 4-3-3 Liverpool line-up to face Brighton

Predicted Liverpool Line-up To Face Brighton In The Premier League

It was all looking good for Klopp and his men a month ago but a dismal run of two draws and two losses on the spin has put pressure on the team in losing out on a top-four finish. Liverpool lost 1-0 at Stamford Bridge to send the top-four fight to the final day.

Fortunately, Klopp’s good friend David Wagner did him a huge favour as Huddersfield drew 1-1 against Chelsea. Liverpool require at least a point against Brighton on the final matchday of the season to book a spot amongst Europe’s elite next season. While the visitors have steered clear from danger, there’s no real reason to consider them as pushovers.

Brighton have lost just one of their last five league games and have done reasonably well for a team that was expected to be relegated back to the championship.

The Reds cannot afford to have the added burden of needing to win the Champions League just to qualify for the competition again next season. Klopp must ensure they get over the line at Anfield and that should see him field the strongest possible XI to face Brighton.

Probable Liverpool XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Loris Karius (GK)

Loris Karius should remain between the sticks, with his position under no real threat.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

Nathaniel Clyne made just his second start of the season and it wasn’t a poor performance as such. However, he certainly wasn’t up to speed and showed no real threat going forward. It would be best to start Alexander-Arnold, who has played right-back for most of the campaign.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

Van Dijk is probably the most obvious option at centre-back along with Dejan Lovren, although the latter has been at fault for a number of goals conceded over the last month.

Virgil van Dijk

Ragnar Klavan (CB)

Klopp has no real backup, with Joel Matip out for the season, which leaves him with Ragnar Klavan, who could be given a rare start to mix things up a little bit.

Andrew Robertson (LB)

Andrew Robertson is a must in this starting line-up, he’s on a completely different level as opposed to Alberto Moreno, who showed some early season form only for it to diminish since Robertson’s entry into the side.

Jordan Henderson (CM)

Klopp looks like he’s still confused in choosing the right man for the deep midfield role. Perhaps it is best to hand over that responsibility to captain Henderson, who is very much familiar with it.

Jordan Henderson

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM)

Gini Wijnaldum played as the deepest midfielder against Chelsea despite Henderson’s presence on the field. Trent-Alexander Arnold showed some early form against Chelsea but just doesn’t have the experience to play in a midfield role.

Adam Lallana (CM)

Adam Lallana is back in training and could be given a start or at least a place on the bench despite his lack of game time. This means that Milner can be given a duly deserved rest.

Mohamed Salah (RW)

Salah has been off the pace lately. The Egyptian was crowded out and toothless against Chelsea, a third successive game in which he hasn’t been anywhere near his best level. Given Liverpool’s current situation, this is the worst possible moment to see their top scorer falter. He is just one goal shy of breaking the all-time Premier League record and must score to ensure that his team wins.

Mohamed Salah

Roberto Firmino (ST)

Firmino is a real threat in this Liverpool side and is a sure starter up front. He is probably the best striker in the Premier League in terms of efficiency and impact.

Sadio Mane (LW)

Mane is another sure starter. With Liverpool needing to win this game, it is important for the Senegalese star to perform well.
