Lack of Champions League football has not affected Arsenal’s chances of signing quality stars this summer as they have already landed two of the most exciting players in Europe this summer. But the manager is still not done with his transfers as he is on the verge of losing two of his first team stars.

Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez and English midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain are both into the final years of their contract and haven’t yet signed new ones. Sanchez may yet see out his term but Ox seems to be ready to quit the club before the deadline day.

However, Wenger is not too fazed and is looking at a few options who can improve the quality of the squad and one such player who he should keep an eye on is Everton star, Ross Barkley.

The versatile English midfielder is one of the most exciting stars in the country’s domestic circuit but is unhappy with the situation at his current club. He was offered a huge pay rise but he has decided that his time at the Goodison Park is up and is looking for a move away from Everton.

Tottenham Hotspur have extensively been linked with a move for the player recently but Arsene Wenger’s side are also in the running. Reports from the Guardian claim that Everton are ready to hold out for a fee of £30m, £20m less than their initial valuation. So, should Wenger move for him?

Known for his aggressive approach and dynamic play in the midfield, Barkley is a player who can play an attacking role as good as the midfield role. Though he has to work on his defensive duties, his attributes are tailor-made for the English game and at just 23, he is destined for greatness.

At his age, he already has 150 Premier League appearances and 22 senior appearances for the Three Lions and was the first choice midfielder for Ronald Koeman last season. He can create chances, score goals and also put in the hard yards, while his hold up play and slick passing will be a huge asset at the Emirates.

He can replace Oxlade Chamberlain, may be not as a full-back but as a midfielder, while he can also be touted as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who may yet quit the club. He could solve some impending problems at the club and Arsenal is probably the best destination for the player this summer.
