A perfect backup for Pereyra – This 8-goal Ligue 1 hotshot would be a terrific signing for Watford

Why Francois Kamano is the ideal person to deputise for Roberto Pereyra

According to reports from Watford Observer, Watford are looking for the signature of Bordeaux attacking midfielder Francois Kamano.

Watford started the Premier League campaign better than most teams, a run during which they won their opening 4 games including a memorable win against Tottenham before eventually being humbled by Manchester United.

After losing to United, Watford won just 2 out of 11 games but have still somehow managed to cling onto the valuable 7th spot, thanks to the recent form they’ve shown.

They have won 3 and drawn 2 out of their last 6 league games while the only game they lost was the 2-1 defeat to heavyweights Chelsea. Javi Gracia will be very happy with the way this season has panned out so far.

They have been extremely good in the attacking phase in certain games with Roberto Pereyra really coming to the fore on multiple occasions. Also, Troy Deeney and Ken Sema have recently started to perform for Gracia, which is also good news. They are still behind 6th-placed Manchester United by 9 points – a gap which seems unlikely to be covered by Watford.

While this may be the case, they are still being chased by a number of teams in the fight for the 7th spot. Every team above 11th-placed Wolves is just one win away from leapfrogging Watford. This is a cause for concern and Gracia must respond by purchasing an attacking player who can win games for them.

With Pereyra being utilised in every game, bringing in a player who can deputise for the brilliant Argentinian will not be a very bad idea. According to reports, Guinean international Francois Kamano is the man Javi Gracia has identified to do this.

He is a left-sided attacking midfield player who can also play down the middle. Like Pereyra, he is an expert at long-range shots and has an excellent goal-scoring rate. He already has 8 goals in 18 games for Bordeaux this season.

He has also scored in the Europa League and in the Africa Cup of Nations. He is an adept dribbler who loves to go on the outside and pull the ball back. He also has a keen eye for long passes, which will add something new to the Watford attack if they are able to complete this high-profile transfer.
