Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool managed to get to the top of the points table this weekend after a 2-1 victory over the Baggies at Anfield on Saturday. They are just a point off the league leaders in Manchester City and will hope to keep up their good run of form recently for as long as they can. However, they will face a tough test this week in the League Cup where they are drawn against Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in the Round of 16. Both teams will be competing for the trophy this season and will set out strong teams to try and come out with a victory. Here is the strongest lineup that Klopp can field on the night:

Team News:

The fans of the club will be happy that their team picked up no new injuries in the victory at the weekend. The manager has a close to fully fit squad for this game with Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez, who is just back from injury are the only two players unavailable for this game.

Simon Mignolet:

The Belgian has been patiently waiting for his turn on the bench and he will replace Karius for this League Cup game against the Spurs.

Trent Alexander Arnold:

Having missed the U23 game against Everton on Sunday, Arnold is expected to relieve Clyne of his duties for this League Cup clash at Anfield

Ragnar Klavan:

The former Bundesliga man made a strong start to his Liverpool career and he should start the game for his side against Spurs.

Dejan Lovren:

Putting in some strong performance early this season, Lovren should keep his place in the starting XI for this game at Anfield.

Alberto Moreno:

James Milner has been exceptional as a left-back for the club this season but he will be given some much-needed rest in this game to get Moreno back into action for the cup game.

Emre Can:

The German put in a decent shift in the game against West Brom and should keep his place in the midfield for his side for this game against Spurs.

Marko Grujic:

The young Serb was impressive in the pre-season but he will need to get some gametime under his belt and will start this League Cup game at Anfield.

Georginio Wijnaldum:

After getting a cameo in the game at the weekend, Wijnaldum should keep his place in the side for this game against Spurs.

Adam Lallana:

The England international came off in the second half in the game against the Baggies and is expected to start this game at Anfield.

Danny Ings:

The former Burnley man has been superb so far for the junior Liverpool side this season and should get a well deserved start in this game against Tottenham.

Daniel Sturridge:

The England international was an unused substitute in the game against WBA and he should lead the attacking line for Liverpool in this League Cup game at Anfield.
