50+ goals in 2 seasons – This Italian goal machine is the man who Chelsea need to solve their goalscoring woes

Why Chelsea must break the bank for Ciro Immobile in January

The one fact Chelsea fans know is that their club needs a bonafide goal-scoring forward, someone who can help Eden Hazard and take the burden off the Belgian’s shoulders.

The Blues’ striking woes are well-documented, with both Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata being woeful this season. The duo has netted a combined 6 goals in 19 league games; an astonishingly poor return.

As a result, Maurizio Sarri has been forced to use Eden Hazard in a false-9 role at times. And while the move has paid rich dividends of late, one cannot deny the fact that Chelsea clearly need a prolific goalscorer in their ranks.

That said, Maurizio Sarri must make a move for Lazio star Ciro Immobile in January.

Ciro Immobile, 28, has become one of the deadliest strikers in Italy in the last couple of years. He has netted over 50 goals in Lazio colours over the last two seasons in the Serie A and has managed to reproduce the brilliant form so far in the 2018/19 campaign as well.

The Italian has 10 goals and 2 assists in 18 Serie A games, which shows how ruthless Ciro Immobile has been in front of the goal again.

The 28-year-old had failed spells at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla but he has managed to resurrect his career since joining Lazio in 2016. Now considered as one of the lethal poachers in Europe, Ciro Immobile could be a brilliant signing for Chelsea.

In Immobile, Chelsea would get a speedy, agile and intelligent striker known for his clever movement off the ball as well as his ability to time runs to perfection and score. The Italy international possesses a solid technique, is good in the air and is an expert finisher when presented a goalscoring opportunity.

He loves to make penetrating runs in behind the opposition backline and can also release his teammates through on goal with incisive passes.

In addition to his excellent finishing and offensive traits, Immobile also works extremely hard and can press opponents when not in possession, someone who Sarri will love working with at Stamford Bridge.

Not to forget, the Italian will also come up with volumes of European experience, which would definitely lift the mood around the club.

At the age of 28, Immobile is now entering the very prime years of his career. Hence, January could be the best time for Chelsea to lure him away to the Premier League. And if Sarri does manage to bring him to Stamford Bridge, the move could turn out to be a real statement from Chelsea.
