5 Young Players Who Are Unlikely To Make An Impact In The 2014 World Cup Including Manchester United And Liverpool Kids

Share

The 2014 World Cup is not too far and already football fans are excited to see the teams play and their favourite stars performing at the biggest of the stages. They say that a player’s greatness is known by the performance that he gives in his national side and the world cup is the measure to all that. As much as the experienced campaigners would be trying to make a mark for their teams, there would be a lot of young players who would sweat it out. But today we take a look at some of the youngsters who should get an opportunity in the World Cup but would not be able to make too much of an impact due to lack of gametime.

Isco

The Spanish midfielder is the next big thing of the Real Madrid side and he has a bright future ahead of him. But in a team where Santi Cazorla and Juan Mata is an excess, it is safe to say that Isco would not get too much of an opportunity to impress and that may be a bit hard on him. Had he been in any other team, he would have laughed his way into the first team, but when with such an overloaded squad, he would have to spend most of the time on the sidelines.

Adnan Januzaj

He has been the highlight for the Manchester United side this term and he has recently confirmed his willingness to play for Belgium in national level. But in a squad full of Hazards and Dembeles, it would be extremely difficult for Januzaj to showcase his talent and he must wait for the right opportunity to make a mark in the national stage.

Luke Shaw

He was one of the strongest contenders of the PFA Young Player of the year award and Shaw may be one of the best left-backs in the English Premier League. But as long as Leighton Baines is in the reckoning and in the fine form that he is, the Southampton defender must spend his time on the bench. But there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Shaw would rule the stage at some point and be a tremendous player for England.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The German keeper is one of the best players of his position currently and European giants Barcelona are after his services to make him number one after Valdes retires this summer. But the 22 year old has to wait for his opportunity as long as Bayern shot stopper Manuel Neuer mans the goal for Germany. He has all the potential to make it big in a world cup, but maybe not World Cup 2014.

Philippe Coutinho

The Liverpool playmaker has been instrumental in his club’s good showing this season and should have been in the Brazil national team which would play in their home. But Coutinho has not yet featured in the plans of Brazil coach Scolari and it looks like things are not going to change too soon. It can also be called as Coutinho’s misfortune that he has to fight with a player like Oscar for the same place in the team.
