5 Players Who Mourinho Would Buy If He Joins Manchester United Including Cristiano Ronaldo

The rumours are circulating and the news is that Jose Mourinho is all set to replace Louis van Gaal as the manager of Manchester United. The Red Devils lost to Norwich in the Premier League and could well be looking to bring in Mourinho at the start of the New Year.

There have been grumblings about the lack of quality signings at Manchester United. Memphis Depay, Anthony Martial and Bastian Schweinsteiger haven’t really impressed this term and Louis van Gaal certainly has wasted the money provided by the Glazers.

Mourinho would certainly shake things up by signing few players to make the squad better and here are five players who the Portuguese could look to sign for his new club, if he does take the job before the start of the year.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The top transfer target for Manchester United for a long time, the love affair between Cristiano Ronaldo and United just cannot die. Even after the Portuguese was signed by Real Madrid, he still has his heart set on a return and with things not being rosy at Real Madrid, one of the best players in the world could be reunited with his old boss. United though would have to pay through the nose to sign the Ballon d’Or winner and that could well be the one way to fix their attack.

Antoine Griezmann

Chelsea and Mourinho have always been linked with a move for the French winger and with the Atletico Madrid player having scored 12 goals in 25 games for the La Liga side; he could well be the answer to Manchester United’s goal scoring issues. He would be a better alternative to Ronaldo simply because of his age and ability to play in the wings or leading the attack. Atletico would certainly charge a bomb for the player but Griezmann could well be looking for a new challenge and United will provide that.

John Stones

The failed attempt to sign John Stones could well be rekindled in the winter if Jose does take over at Manchester United. The Red Devils have needed a central defender and Stones could be the one who picks up the slack. The 21-year-old Evertonian has been one of the best players this season and maybe a move to United wouldn’t be off the shelf if he is guaranteed regular football in the first team.

Raphael Varane

Manchester United had targeted the French defender earlier this season but couldn’t sign a deal. It was Jose Mourinho who brought the defender into the first team and helped him develop into the player he is today. The Real Madrid star might be tough to get from the Bernabeu outift but Jose does know the youngster really well and he could well be the player who could transform the United defence.

Sadio Mane

The Southampton attacker was subject to a move by Manchester United in the summer but was kept in the team by Ronald Koeman. That all could change in the winter window if Jose Mourinho does pick up the reins. Mane is the winger that could well change the attack of Manchester United and the 23-year-old Senegalese would be willing to make a move away from the Saints, if the price is right though.
