Tottenham Hotspur will travel to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to take part in a colossal Premier League encounter with champions-elect Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s men have now gone 15 games without dropping points and Mauricio Pochettino will be relishing the chance to dethrone the high-flying side. There’s an 18-point gap between the two clubs and although the odds seem to be in favour of the home side, no team can underestimate Spurs. After all, they beat the reigning European champions Real Madrid in the Champions League and will be looking to cause a major upset here again.
Ederson (GK)
The City goalkeeper has been hogging a lot of limelight lately for his stunning saves. He was in fine form against Manchester United as well as Swansea, making him a shoo-in for this spot.
Kieran Trippier (RB)
Trippier has been a revelation at the right-back spot. Moreover, Trippier has also created quite a number of chances and will be crucial at controlling activity on the right-hand side.
Jan Vertonghen (CB)
Vertonghen has managed admirably well without his partner Toby Alderweireld in the defence and his power will be important to restrict City’s famed attackers.
Nicolas Otamendi (CB)
Otamendi scored in 2 consecutive games for City and almost scored a third against Swansea but he missed out. That said, he has been one of the most influential players at the back this season, which earns him a spot in this combined XI.
Ben Davies (LB)
Davies is an accomplished defender in the left-back area and he also makes worthy contributions to the attack. He has created several chances for Spurs and his impact will be necessary against City.
Harry Winks (CM)
This was a tough choice since Winks was not particularly impressive against Brighton. However, he has been one of Spurs’ most influential players in the midfield all season and that’s why he makes it to this list ahead of Fernandinho. Debatable, but this is my opinion.
David Silva (CM)
Silva just refuses to slow down. He was magnificent against Swansea, Manchester United and just about any opponent City have played so far – and there is no doubt he will be a powerful presence against Spurs as well.
Raheem Sterling (LW)
Raheem Sterling has been absolutely top notch for Man City and the way he’s been playing this season, it is impossible not to include him in this XI.
Kevin De Bruyne (CAM)
He has scored 6 goals already and will be eager to make it 7 against Spurs. De Bruyne’s creativity and skills are a treat to watch and he will be key for City in terms of orchestrating attacks.
Heung-Min Son (RW)
Son has scored 6 goals in his last 9 games and has truly become one of Pochettino’s key attackers. The game against City will be a massive test for him but judging from his displays so far, the player should be able to rise up to the challenge.
Harry Kane (CF)
Kane’s impact on the Premier League, in general, is unparalleled this term so far and Pochettino will need him to do what he does best on Saturday – score goals!
