Power Of Youth – Three Youngsters Who Could Take The Premier League By Storm This Season

The Premier League 2017/18 is less than two weeks away from kicking off and the fans are bracing for another action-packed season filled with excitement and ecstasy along with heartbreak for some.

One of the most exciting aspects of watching the Premier League is the chance to witness a number of young and promising talents break on to the scenes and make a huge impact for their teams. We’ve had the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Marcus Rashford  make a serious difference for their clubs in the past couple of years, by providing that X-Factor that the team needed.

Ahead of the upcoming season, we take a look at three young players aged 21 or younger, who could have a similar impact in the Premier League and be the next breakthrough star for their teams.

Tammy Abraham (Swansea City on Loan)

The 19-year old forward was one of the most sought-after players in the transfer window, after it became certain that Chelsea would be loaning him out for another season. The likes of Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion showed serious interest, but Abraham ended up joining Swansea City, where he will hope to make a strong impact.

Abraham comes into the season after an excellent outing on loan with Championship club Bristol City, where he scored 26 goals in all competitions and won the club’s Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and the Top Goal-scorer honours. The youngster then followed it up with a strong showing in the UEFA European U-21 Championships for England.

With Great pace, very good feet, and strong physicality, Abraham has all the attributes to be a success at Swansea. With Fernando Llorente set to miss the first few weeks of action, the onus will be on the Chelsea loanee to deliver and he has what it takes to do just that.

Dominic Solanke (Liverpool)

Another product of the Chelsea youth academy, Solanke hardly played for the first-team, despite having made his debut way back in 2014/15 campaign. Last season saw him being phased out of the club due to a contract standoff and the youngster ended up joining Liverpool in the summer.

The 19-year old has earned the reputation of being one of the most lethal strikers to have come through the youth ranks at Chelsea and rightly so. He enhanced that with some fine displays for the England U-20 national team that went on to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2017 in South Korea, scoring 4 goals for the Three Lions and winning the Golden Ball. Solanke has already displayed his abilities at his new club, scoring a fine goal against Crystal Palace in the pre-season.

The teenager has already demonstrated that, despite his age, he can be the focal point of the attack and score goals. With a manager like Jurgen Klopp at the helm, who is not afraid to give young players a chance, Solanke can turn out to be Liverpool’s breakout star of the season.

Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City)

Last season, we got a glimpse of what this lad can do and if that’s the sign of things to come, then expect some fireworks from Gabriel Jesus.

The 20-year old joined Manchester City in January from Brazilian side Palmeiras and immediately, the youngster became the toast of the town, following some starry displays in the attack. Jesus was so impressive that the Citizens manager Pep Guardiola was forced into replacing star striker Sergio Aguero with the Brazilian. Jesus ended the season with 7 goals from 11 games and that tally could have been much more, if not for an injury that sidelined him for a couple of months.

Jesus has shown all the qualities that Guardiola so much craves for in his centre-forwards – high intensity pressing, extremely pacey and good with the ball at his feet that allows City to make those quick transitions into attack. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he started the season as the first-choice at the Etihad.
