3 Things We Learnt From Liverpool Vs Tottenham: Reds Can Definitely Dream About The Title

Share

Liverpool moves one step closer to the Premier League title with the 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. This victory makes the three horse Premier League race even more exciting with both of Liverpool’s title rivals dropping points. While hopes of a first league title since 1990 rises in the red side of Merseyside let us have a look at three things we learnt from today’s game.

Luis Suarez has the capability to deliver the Premier League title on his own

While everyone has run out of superlatives to describe Luis Suarez’s performances this season, it is a fact that the Uruguayan is the main difference between a good Liverpool side and a great Liverpool side. After all man to man players like Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling or even Daniel Sturridge are not of the same quality if compared to players from teams of other title rivals. However such is the quality of Luis Suarez that he makes good players look brilliant and make brilliant players look world class. In fact it seems that in recent times Luis Suarez seems to have an aura around him and it would indeed not be an exaggeration to claim that Suarez compelled Dawson to make the mistake in the lead up to the second goal which was finished with aplomb by the Uruguayan.

It is next to impossible to beat Liverpool in the Anfield this season

If Liverpool do go on to win the Premier League this season it will probably because that they are looking unbeatable at Anfield right now. The two home games against Manchester City and Chelsea will probably be the huge title decider and the form Liverpool look to be in it won’t surprise anybody if they pick maximum points from both the games. If indeed that is the case then the title will be Liverpool’s to lose. Infact yesterday’s performance where Liverpool played much of the game with handbrakes on and still managed to win so comfortably highlights the fact how crucial their home form has been for them this season. It will indeed be a huge comfort for Liverpool that both their tough games are at Anfield where they seem almost unbeatable at the moment.

Tottenham Hotspur looks to be in a negative spiral right now

While the comeback win last week over Southampton papered over a lot of cracks it looked obvious to anyone watching the match that something went seriously wrong with Tottenham Hotspur when the transfer dealings were finalized. Seven players to replace the one superstar ‘Gareth Bale’ certainly did not work and it was again at show today at Anfield how much Tottenham Hotspur is missing that creative spark. In fact even the heart was missing from the performance today which literally gifted Liverpool the three points even before the game kicked off. While it is almost certain that Tim Sherwood will not be the manager of Spurs come next season, it will be interesting to note what Tottenham Hotspur does for the rest of the season to remedy this situation.
