3 Reasons Why This Arsenal/Chelsea Linked Pass Master Won’t Suit Liverpool

Share

The race is on for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas who has surprisingly been linked to Liverpool despite the interest from other top premier league clubs.  Majority of the British tabloids have also reported the recent developments surrounding the player but we here at Soccersouls feels it’s a more like a made up story. These are the three reasons why the former Arsenal captain wont suit the Reds.

Fabregas

1. The transfer rumour is prbably completely made up, it’s a no brainer

A wholesale changes are expected at Barcelona after new manager Luis Enrique has taken over the reins from the departing Tata Martino. Club President Josep Maria Bartomeu has already made it vocal that majority of players will leave the Camp Nou outfit and the Rumour mill suggests that Fabregas is headed for the exit from the Blaugrana. Manchester United have been long interested in the player since last summer but there is a clause in Spaniard’s contract that Arsenal would have first refusal on their former fan favourite. Club legend Ray Parlour has already suggested Arsene Wenger not to bring in the midfielder thanks to the plethora of options in the middle of the park, making the Red Devils now at the top of the list for the most likely of destinations for the 27 year old.

2. Would he fit into Liverpool’s system?

Liverpool’s 4-4-2 diamond or a 4-2-3-1 setup will not help Fabregas slot in the Merseyside club. Fabregas is more of a free flowing player who can drive the team like an engine and thrives in a more conservative possession based buildup, Liverpool on the other hand are quick of their blocks and are a lot more direct. Times journalist Tony Barrett had earlier reported that although manager Brendan Rodgers admires the former Arsenal player, Liverpool are unlikely to make a move for him, rather, the Norther Irishman is interested in Barcelona’s winger Alexis Sanchez, who can play on either wings or can slot in as a second striker just off the front man.

3. Why would Liverpool splash the cash when they need to strengthen other areas?

Liverpool’s major are of concerns which needs to be addressed is their defense. The Reds have been linked with Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno over the past few weeks and a deal is likely to be agreed in the next few days. Plus the Merseyside giants also need an effective centre back who can plug the hole in the leaky Reds defense. No doubt Fabregas would ceaselessly fit into any top European side but the question certainly remains on finding a needle from a haystack. Why would Liverpool try to splash loads of cash( and even though his wages wouldn’t be a concern) when they need to strengthen their weak links rather than be attracted by the biggest of names in the transfer market.
