Three Reasons Why Andrea Belotti Would Be Perfect For Chelsea

Antonio Conte decided to let go of Diego Costa after the Spaniard spent three stellar seasons at the English capital, lifting two league trophies. The Italian manager was not happy with the way things were going between the pair and is now looking high and dry for replacements as the new season looms large.

Everton star Romelu Lukaku was at the top of the wishlist for Conte but the Belgian decided to join Manchester United, leaving the manager frustrated. The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alvaro Morata are other options Chelsea are looking at but one player who is definitely worth a shot is Italian sensational Andrea Belotti. It is reported that Chelsea are ready to meet his release clause of £89m and here are three reasons why he is the perfect option for the English Champions this summer.

The Italian connection

The 23-year old Italian international burst onto the scenes last season, after impressive stints with the Italy U21 side. His domestic campaign with Torino made him a superstar but before that, he showed great temperament and similar goal scoring abilities for the national side. Conte was in charge of Belotti for not more than three games but will have worked enough with him to understand his strengths and weaknesses. Surely this will help Belotti turn into a goal-scoring machine in his first year in England.

Tailor-Made for EPL

With strength and the ability to hold on to the ball being his plus points, Belotti is a genuine goal scorer who knows his way to goal from different ranges and angles. He is dominant in the air and is not easy to beat in one on one situations. His ability to use his strength in dangerous areas makes him perfect for the English style of play. Though he has no previous experience in England, he has what it takes to be a top goalscorer in the English top flight.

Lack Of Options

Most importantly, Belotti is the perfect fit for Chelsea because of lack of options in the transfer market. Aubameyang costs around €70m while Morata is valued at €80m. Belotti would be a Chelsea player if Chelsea spend £89m and for a 23-year old who will only get better, it is a risk worth taking. While any move for Aubameyang or Morata would take some negotiations, Belotti’s release clause makes it easy to conclude a move, with the only hurdle being the ‘convincing the player’ part. Chelsea are not a club who would baulk at this amount and they are capable of spending.

So Belotti is exactly who Chelsea should be pursuing this summer.
