3 Reasons Why Liverpool Will Defeat Arsenal Later Today

Share

Liverpool will play Arsenal at the Emirates in their opening fixture of the new Premier League season. The Reds had an eventful preseason which saw them win against Barcelona, in fact, demolish them 4-0, but they also lost out to Chelsea and had a poor run out against Mainz recently.

Arsenal were in the news right from the start of the transfer window as they signed Granit Xhaka and even after a preseason win over Manchester City, there are a few doubts about their position and ultimate aim for the campaign this season.

Arsenal and Liverpool has always been a battle worth watching with goals galore, though the last time these two sides played in London it was a dull 0-0 draw, and Liverpool are often on the receiving end as they have won just once in 15 years away from home.

Things could be a little different this time around and with the Premier League one of the toughest to call, here are three reasons why Liverpool will actually win at the Emirates.

Away game

While we spoke about the fact that Liverpool do not have a good away record against Arsenal, the Reds did have their best performances when not playing at Anfield last season. The drubbing of Southampton, the hammering of Manchester City and the shock result against Chelsea, those were just some of the great performances put in by the Merseyside club.

It just seems to click for the team when they are not the ones who need to do the attacking and with the pace of Sadio Mane in the side, Liverpool could actually cause a few problems for the London club on Sunday.

A full preseason to work with

Can Klopp Stop Arsenal?

This was one of the major reasons why the Reds did not get clicking early on during Klopp’s first season. The lack of a proper preseason to train and drill players was a problem for the German but this time around, he has had a lot of time to just work on his methods and ideas of how to play for the side.

It isn’t just the fact that they had time to work with the team. The club also signed a lot of players but all of them seem to be Jurgen’s signings and that should only help Liverpool play better and grow into an attacking unit which no team could defend against. The defence has been shored up as well with the signing of Joel Matip and that can only mean good things for the Reds.

Typical slow Arsenal start to season

It would not be an Arsenal season unless they flatter to deceive on the first match day. We saw West Ham United pick up an unexpected win last time around and Liverpool could do something similar as well.

The Merseyside club might have had a preseason to look forward to, but Arsenal do not have a lot of key players either through injury or by giving them rest. Either way, Liverpool do look more like a team who are set with their game plan and their players also seem to be more in sync this time around than the last time they played at the stadium and that should mean an easy three points for Klopp’s men.
