3 Reasons Why Arsenal Should Do Everything In Their Power To Lure This Goal Machine From Their Title Rivals

Share

Sergio Aguero, one of the finest strikers in the game in the current times. The diminutive Argentine has been a huge influence in the turn of fortunes for his club, Manchester City, leading them to two Premier League titles and various other trophies. Over the years, he has grown leaps and bounds and has become the most feared forward across the world, along with the likes of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.

Aguero, after joining from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, has netted an amazing 154 goals from 234 appearances across all competitions and has etched himself in the annals of the Manchester City history books. However, things have been rocky for 28-year old this term, ever since the arrival of Pep Guardiola.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has often criticized his star forward this season and recently has dropped him to the bench in the favour of January signing Gabriel Jesus. The teenager has repaid his manager’s faith with some excellent displays and looks like he will be holding his starting spot for some time to come, which has cast dark clouds over Aguero’s future at the Etihad. The striker himself appeared to cast a doubt over his future after the weekend’s match against Swansea City and may very well be headed to the exit doors come summer.

There is no dearth of clubs that would line up to sign Aguero. However, it is Premier League rivals Arsenal who would benefit a lot from the services of the Argentine. There is so such deal in place, but we believe that Wenger should try and get a sweet revenge on the Citizens in the coming summer.

And here we give you three reasons why Arsenal should do everything possible to sign Aguero:

Goals, Goals and Goals

With Sergio Aguero in your ranks, one thing is guaranteed, goals. The Argentine has made a reputation of scoring plenty of goals and has scored more than 25 goals for City in four of his six seasons at the Etihad. Aguero had won the Premier League Golden Boot award in the 2014-15 season and finished just one goal shy of the Golden Boot winner in the previous season, Harry Kane.

The wealth of experience, the sheer number of goals he has scored for City over the years and the impact that he has had since his move to England make him one of the best in the league. Arsenal, who have struggled to sign a marquee striker over the years, could use someone of the class and reputation of Aguero. And with rumours of Alexis Sanchez’s exit gaining voice, bringing in Aguero would go a long way to show their intent and ambitions.

Pedigree for Winning

Sergio Aguero is a fighter. A tough mental character, who never goes down without putting up a fight. Over the years, the 28-year old has demonstrated his hunger and desire for success and his dogged mental attitude has won many crucial games for the Citizens time and again, single-handedly. The last-ditch goal against Queens Park Rangers in the final league game of the 2011-12 season, that sealed the title win for Manchester City, epitomizes his desire and pedigree for winning.

And that is something that Arsenal have lacked since a long time. The mental toughness among the Arsenal squad is found wanting every season and time and again the Gunners have thrown away a great opportunity to get their hands on the title because of the lack of the character and the willingness. Signing Aguero will definitely address that situation and the Argentine could turn out to be an inspirational presence on the field for the rest of the squad.

Revenge Is a Dish Best-Served Cold

In recent times, Manchester City have made a habit of raiding Arsenal to sign players and strengthen their squad. And with the financial clout that the Citizens possess and Arsene Wenger’s refusal to break the wage structure in place at the Emirates has meant many stars have made the switch to the North-West of England from London.

Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Bacary Sagna have traded the Red and White of Arsenal for the Manchester Sky Blues. City also tried to prize away striker Robin van Persie, who eventually ended up joining the red half of Manchester and now are set on tempting young full-back Hector Bellerin with a move to Etihad.

If Arsenal manages to get their hands on Aguero, they will be exacting revenge for all the talent that City took away from them. Taking away their third highest all-time leading goalscorer and their most prized asset will serve as a kick to right where it hurts for the Citizens.
