3 Quality players Marco Silva should sign if he takes over as Everton boss including £3m veteran

Everton have reportedly opened talks with Marco Silva after sacking Sam Allardyce and director of football Steve Walsh.

Allardyce guided the team from 13th to 8th in the Premier League following a turbulent start to the season under Ronald Koeman and then under caretaker manager, David Unsworth.

The former England manager did what was asked out of him but his uninspiring style of play and fans booing him at away matches were enough for Everton to end his spell.

With Allardyce sacked, Everton are planning to recruit Marco Silva, who is without a job after being dismissed by Watford in January.

The Portuguese’s unceremonious sacking by Watford would create doubts but he is a manager who is expected to bring a dynamic and vibrant style of football at Goodison Park.

Marco Silva

Should Everton appoint Silva in the coming days, here are three players he should sign in the summer transfer window.

Ryan Bertrand (Southampton)

Signing a left-back should be one of the top priorities for Silva at Everton this summer. Leighton Baines has entered the final few years of his career and at 33, he is no more the pacey and dynamic full-back that he once was. To replace the ageing Baines, Everton must target Southampton’s, Ryan Bertrand.

Ryan Bertrand

Bertrand has proven himself in the Premier League for many years now, establishing himself as the first-choice left-back at Southampton. Full of pace and energy, the former Chelsea man is currently playing at the peak of his powers and could be a real asset for Everton.

Xherdan Shaqiri (Stoke City)

With Stoke relegated, Shaqiri will be desperate to leave the club as he is too good to play in the Championship. It is reported that the winger has a £12million release clause in his Stoke contract.

Paying £12million for a talented player like Shaqiri would be peanuts for Everton as he would bolster their attacking options, bringing a different dimension.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Speedy and agile, the stocky Swiss ace would add a lot of pace to the Everton team. Shaqiri is also a well-rounded player capable of producing moments of genius on the field. A venom of a left-foot accompanied by an ice-cool finish, Shaqiri could become a massive player for Everton.

Jonny Evans (West Brom)

Everton’s defence was all over the place this season and the signing of an experienced centre-back could tighten things up next campaign.

West Brom defender Jonny Evans could be an ideal signing for the Toffees. A relegation release clause in Evans’ contract means he is available for just £3m.

Jonny Evans

The Northern Ireland international has performed admirably at West Brom, quickly establishing himself as one of the most important players in the squad after arriving from Manchester United in 2015.

Evans would bring a lot of solidity and wealth of experience to the Everton backline. His rise in the last couple of seasons has been incredible and without any doubt, Silva should make a move for the former Manchester United man.
