Three Players Who Would Strengthen Liverpool In The Summer

Liverpool’s impressive season under Jurgen Klopp has been completely overshadowed by Manchester City’s remarkable run this season, as it seems. The Reds, despite sitting third in the Premier League, have performed very well, boasting an impressive record against the Premier League top six.

However, that being said, the Merseyside giants still have a long way to go if they are to really challenge for the title next season. Considering how awful their defence has been this season, coupled with the fact that the Reds do lack some depth in the attacking department, Liverpool still need to heavily invest in their squad this upcoming summer.

In this article, we talk about three players who can add so much quality to Liverpool, if they arrive in the summer.

Christian Pulisic – Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund’s attacking sensation Christian Pulisic is already one of the world’s most highly talented players at the moment. The American teenage prodigy, at just 19 years of age, already has the world at his feet, thanks to some remarkable performances in the Bundesliga.

Comfortable at playing on both flanks, Christian Pulisic is a versatile attacker who is known for his old-school approach against the opposition defenders. He is someone who likes to get to the byline and provide dangerous crosses while he’s also capable of making some darting runs into the box to cause havoc inside the penalty area.

Pulisic’s addition to this Liverpool team would definitely improve their already impressive attacking unit but most importantly, it will also add some much-needed depth to the attacking department. The American is fairly used to some quick football, meaning he should have no difficulties in getting used to the Premier League.

Jonathan Tah – Bayer Leverkusen

Despite the record signing of Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton last month, Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp will still be keen to add some more depth to the defensive department.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah might be a perfect candidate for the Reds next summer! The German International has been super impressive ever since he moved from HSV, a few years ago. In fact, the 22-year-old has been an ever-present figure in the Leverkusen backline this season, along with former Dortmund defender Sven Bender.

His solid performances have helped Leverkusen challenge for the top-four places but that being said, the defensive gem could be on the verge of leaving the club this summer. According to reports, Jonathan Tah has a slender release clause of just €25million written into his contract, which is basically a snip in today’s market. Therefore, Liverpool should definitely pounce on the talented defender this summer, as they attempt to strengthen their defence.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – Athletic Bilbao

One of Liverpool’s greatest issues in recent years has been their futility in the goalkeeping department. The duo of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius has been highly unsatisfactory, which could force Jurgen Klopp to splash the cash on a keeper this summer.

While there are numerous options available in the market, very few could match the credentials of young Athletic Bilbao keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga. The 23-year-old has been one of rising stars in La Liga this season, conceding just 19 goals in 15 matches. His remarkable shot-stopping ability and huge potential have forced Real Madrid to keep track of him.

The Spaniard is currently tied to a contract until 2025 but a move elsewhere could be on the horizon this summer. A move to Liverpool could be an ideal option for the 23-year-old.
