3 Players Who Can Transform The Arsenal Team As Title Contenders

Share

At one time they blow hot and then they blow cold then hot again, after beating Manchester City recently it seems that Arsenal might be closer to the finished article than most people predicted. Arsenal might have missed the services of Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini but they did pretty well in stifling the Manchester City attack and then scoring a couple of wins for an unlikely win.

To consider then title challengers this season might be a bit of a stretch but with a few additions they could end up winning the title, here are 3 players who could transform the Gunners side as title contenders for next season.

Mats Hummels

Mats Hummels

It might seem that every team wants to buy the German defender but he would probably be best used by the Arsenal team. The German has had a bit of a haggard season for Borussia Dortmund this season and maybe a move away to another club and country would help him out, he has stated that he would not be moving away from Dortmund this season as he helps them battle it out from the relegation zone but next season could be another story.

Hummels is strong and has great leadership qualities plus he is good with the ball at his feet, certainly a good buy but it would be a costly buy.

Sami Khedira

Another German who could fit into any side in the World, Sami has been more or less a peripheral figure at Real Madrid and his time seemed to be over in the last transfer window when Arsenal were the frontrunners to complete the signing of the midfielder.

He can provide rhythm and control to the midfield that has often lacked some bite as well; Khedira would also be coming for a free if they wait till the end of the season. With the rise of Coquelin and Abou Diaby seemingly being out for the season (yet again), it might be a good idea to get Sami into the team sooner rather than later.

Nicolas Otamendi

The central defence still needs a bit of work at Arsenal, although Mertesacker and Koscielny are a pretty good partnership, it wouldn’t hurt to consolidate a position with another player coming in. There already have been rumours of Otamendi, the Argentine wanting to move away from his current club Valencia who had sent him on loan to Atletico Mineiro to clear some player quota hurdles.

Otamendi is strong in the air and can play with the ball well, plus he likes to push up the defence and often ends up playing as a defensive midfielder than a true centre back. He has a release clause of £38.2m in his contract and this may road block any potential deals between the two clubs.
