3 Players Including Arsenal And Liverpool Targets Who Can Move From Serie A To Premier League

Share

The Italian Serie A has been on a bit of a downward spiral for the past few seasons, well the last time any Italian team did something great in the European stage was when Jose Mourinho led Inter Milan to a historic treble in 2011 but after that the league has suffered with low attendances and the performances in European competitions has slid the Italian clubs’ coefficient way down, Portugal are on their way to overtake the nation.

The January transfer window is a bit of a hit and miss for most clubs, players want a move out of their current clubs but having playing half a season for one club they are either priced way too high or are looking for cut deals, here are 3 players who might be moving away from the Serie A to the English Premier League in January 2015.

1. Gonzalo Higuain – Napoli

Higuain

This was supposed to be Napoli’s season, to win the Scudetto, to travel across Europe in the Champions League, they invested in the squad and were supposed to push on from a third placed finish last season. All that fell apart when Athletic Bilbao beat them in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Champions league and then they had a stuttering start to the season.

Gonzalo Higuain has been a striker who has said that he wants to play at the top level, which means he wants to move to a club playing in the Champions League and Liverpool have been in desperate need on a striker who can finish. Another bonus is Higuain would  would not be cup tied in the Champions League, he would be a brilliant signing for any of the top clubs.

2. Sebastian Giovinco

The sprightly winger has not been on the good books of new Juventus boss, Massimo Allegri; in fact the Italy international has only made 4 appearances for the Old Lady and is looking for a move out of Turin.

Giovinco needs to play regular football and with most of the English clubs in need of some attacking prowess, especially Liverpool and Manchester United, Giovinco would be a good fit for either team. The only issue which could be a problem is his physique, the English game is quite physical but Sebastian does have the pace to deal with it and be a force to reckon with in England.

3. Mattia Destro

Arsenal fans would remember early in the transfer window, they were to sign Mario Balotelli, they had signed a new deal with Puma to be their sponsors and Mario was one of their brand ambassadors. Mario does play for a club in Red but its Liverpool, that hasn’t worked for either Arsenal or Liverpool.

Mattia Destro has done pretty well at Roma, the 23 year old has scored 4 times in 10 games but injuries have blighted his career at Roma. Rumours are running that Arsenal have lined up a £20 million move for the Italian, an out and out striker would work really well for the Gunners, who have missed Olivier Giroud due to injury.
