The Premier League is home to some of the biggest names in the world of football. You would be hard-pressed to find someone in the world who does not know Wayne Rooney or Sergio Aguero but every club has that one player who gives it his all, produces great performances but doesn’t get the praise or accolades that he deserves.
We look through the clutch of players in the Premier League and list out the three players who are the most underrated in the league.
1. Willian
The Brazilian isn’t seen in the same light as players like Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa, Eden Hazard or even Nemanja Matic but there is a reason why Jose Mourinho is willing to play him in the Chelsea team more often than the likes of Salah, Cuadrado and Schurrle. The winger does a lot of work for Chelsea and is a willing runner with the ball. He is a great passer and has great knowledge about his team and positioning as well, he might not be the one scoring the goals but he provides the Chelsea team with great balance, which is often missing from other Premier League teams.
2. Steven Naismith
The Everton striker isn’t someone you would think about when someone mentions things like the ‘Best player’ from the club, he might not be the most talented footballer but he gives it his all whenever he plays on the pitch. The striker does score important goals on a regular basis and has great movement which frees up room for the likes of Mirallas, Lukaku and Barkley. The need to have such players in the team might not seem to be huge but these kind of players make the difference with their work ethic and never give up attitude.
3. James Milner
The new Liverpool midfielder left Manchester City, but the club did try to hold onto him and even offered him a huge deal, but he turned it down to play centrally for the Reds. Milner has often been rated as someone who can put in great performances but for some reason he has never been considered as one of the best. The fact is, Milner can be a match winner on his day but his willingness to put in that extra 15% for the team makes him a star. His alternate twitter handle might provide more fun than his regular one, but he certainly is one of the most underrated premier league players.
