3 Key Games That Will Decide Arsenal’s Title Chase

With 22 games of the season done, it has been a pretty great season for Arsenal so far. The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table and are still in the running for the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

Though the Champions League could be a tall order for Arsene Wenger’s side – it would be a tall order for any club barring Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich – the Gunners do have the chance of lifting the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2004.

Arsenal fans have lamented on the lack of Premier League titles under one of the best managers in the history of the Premier League and this could be the season which sees them regain the title that another London club has won multiple times in the past decade.

Chelsea have been struggling this season and are out of the running for the title. While other big clubs such as Manchester United just aren’t clicking in gear, if there is any team that could challenge Arsenal for the crown it is Manchester City but even the blue half of Manchester hasn’t looked as formidable as in previous seasons.

Arsenal have 16 games left in the season but there are a few key games in the league which could decide the fate of the Premier League crown. We look ahead to some of those exciting games and list out three games that could hold the answer as to who wins the Premier League trophy, Arsenal or someone else.

  1. Manchester United (Away February 28th)

While the Red half of Manchester haven’t clicked in gear this season they still pose a threat and are just seven points behind Arsenal. Louis van Gaal’s side were demolished in a blitzkrieg at the Emirates earlier in the season and the Dutch manager would be looking for a measure of revenge against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Arsenal need to be careful as this game comes in a fixture list which is congested. If the Gunners avoid defeat in this game, it should help them in their chase for the crown.

2. Tottenham (Away March 5th)

The London derby might be Arsenal’s lucky charm in most seasons as they do have a great recording them but Mauricio Pochettino has built a formidable side which is young, energetic and hungry for success. Playing at the Lane would not be an easy task for Arsenal and they would have to be at their best if they are to come out unscathed in this game.

The game comes just three days after playing Swansea at home and the Gunners would then have to play West Brom on the 12th of March before an important tie against Barcelona in the Champions League. This tie could be just one where Arsene Wenger has to decide what is more important, the league or the Champions League.

3. Manchester City (Away May 7th)

The fixtures have a funny way of dealing out the games, Manchester City away from home is the penultimate game for the Gunners in the league campaign and this could be the game that decides the title for sure. Unless City slip away in the league – they are just a point behind Arsenal at the moment – the other club from Manchester could well be the one who challenges Arsenal.

This tie would be the match to watch out for during the end of the season and whoever does win this or if Arsenal at least avoid defeat, the Gunners could well be celebrating the Premier League title at the Emirates on the 15th of May.
