3 Free Agents Liverpool, Arsenal And Manchester United Can Look Into This January

Some of the most successful transfers ever didn’t cost the club a penny, as Juventus can confirm with current midfield partnership Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba. Although it is unlikely that any club will pick up a player as good as the aforementioned duo for free this season, there are a few unattached gems that could be a wise move for any Premier League club.

Angelos Charisteas

Greece’s player of the tournament at EURO 2004, Angelos Charisteas is one of the finest players the Hellenic Republic have produced. With 84 goals in 307 professional club appearances, the former Schalke winger knows where the goal is. Now unattached after leaving Al Nassr, Charisteas is available for free, and should be considered by clubs like Liverpool, who are looking to add something in their wing department. With 25 goals in 88 Internationals, Charisteas had a hugely successful international career which lasted just over a decade. He may be 33 now, but he can mean something to the right club. Pablo Ibanez

Former Atletico Madrid and Spain defender Pablo Ibanez is currently unattached after running down his contract with Birmingham City. Now 32 years old, Ibanez is entering the twilight of his career and will be looking for a club that he can have good memories when he retires. Ibanez has Premier League experience, as he spent the 2010/11 season at West Brom after being released by Atletico. He may be getting old and it may have been a while since he played for a top club, though class is permanent, and the right club could see him shine again.

Thomas Hitzlsperger

Thomas Hitzlsperger is by far the best player that is currently looking for a club. The former German International had spells at Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, Lazio and Everton before leaving the Toffees in the summer. He has always struggled with injuries, and they have hampered his unique talent, and hasn’t fulfilled his clear potential, but he still found the time to make 52 Germany appearances, and we all know how hard it is to get a starting spot in Die Ardler. He could give the Manchester United midfield some much needed creativity, or help Arsenal with their lack of strength and depth, the fact of the matter is that most teams in Europe would be happy to have a fully fit Thomas Hitzlsperger in their ranks.
